    From that list-
    1) Friday Night Lights
    2) Varsity Blues
    3) Any Given Sunday

Have to admit, INT is right: The Longest Yard is deserving

What realy gets me from these so-called Murahkan journalists who dream this ‘sports shit internet lists” up is the fact that there is no fuking research done on any of it by these punks………….

Outside of the fact that Bert Reynolds who died this past Sept. was a Michigan Native – like me and a Fla St alum like me. I never played football perse’ but Bert absolutely loved the game and if he would have grown up entirely in Michigan he prolly would’ve played for Michigan! Ask Corso! He knew him way better than me. Roomed with him at FSU.

Anyway back to the movie ………. the 1974 version of The Longest Yard was in fact a loosely Americanized comedic version of an actual event that took place in Nazi Occupied Eastern Europe between German soldiers and some Nazi prisoners who were all star soccer players and were recruited by the Nazis to play this game – were ordered to make sure they lost it- so as to propagate the Nazi ideology among the locals that the Germans were the supreme ARYAN greats! 4 of these prisoner players – the Captain ,goalie and 2 others ended up being executed by the Nazis……….

The knowledge of this event was well known by the West but the details in entirety didn’t become known until after the Soviet Union Fell years after the movie that Bert starred in was originally made.

Now even the movie as produced here in the States ignoring the above ; inspite of its comedic portrayal was wrought with the topics and social issues of the period: racism, prison reform, mindless govt protocol, Authority etc.

For some1 to leave this moveie off a list of ‘Football Movie greats’ is frankly a slap in the face to both Human History & basic Human Decency!
    As I See It…………INTJohn
