Space Coyote put together some interesting thoughts on Michigan and the Wisconsin game (LINK).
Jordan Glasgow: "Some of the plays, obviously on the goal line, I feel like I didn’t perform the way I should have. It doesn’t matter if it’s a 330-pound offensive guard or the tackle or the center or whoever, I’ve got to perform and do what I’m asked to do as a football player"

What are your thoughts on his post?
Dude knows his stuff, but comparing Bama TEs to our isn’t makin me feel better. We don’t have DTs? Who’s supposed to recruit that position?
Biggest point of agreement I have is, we didn’t need an overhaul. I said it all year (esp after SMU), just don’t move at such a snail pace, and – if 8/9 are in the box to stop the run, MAKE THEM PAY. Always take what an opponent gives you

I agree with you when it comes to making the defense pay for whatever it is they’re not doing.
I thought Space Coyote’s post was pretty accurate. The 11/12 personnel thing was something that I’ve brought up before (let’s see more Sainristil, less Eubanks). The lack of a diverse run game is a big issue, too, and I mentioned that after game one.
One thing that I have not seen mentioned much is Ben McDaniels/QB coach situation. McDaniels was not a highly regarded coach (he came from an analyst position), and Shea Patterson has looked very sloppy to begin the season. His footwork is sloppy, his ball handling is sloppy, his meshes with the tailback are inconsistent, etc. Gattis and McDaniels need to get on the same page with each other and/or Patterson. I’m not say McDaniels can’t do it, but I’m not impressed with what I’ve seen so far.

I asked when he took over WRs last December. Basically, the best thing said about him was his relationship with Dad & Brothers. That’s it!

With respect to the Glasgow quote every athlete with any salt will do his best to do whatever is asked of him. Credit Glasgow for his efforts. It is the coaches responsibility to put their men in a position to succeed.
I think most people were concerned about what our DL would be able to handle against a team like Wisconsin. Overall execution on both the defense and offense is lacking. It looks like being outmanned and confused. Schematic changes? Coaching fail.

It’s Shaun Nua. He is not ready for the BIG 10. He may develop into one of the greatest coaches ever some day. But he is not ready now. It was clear from the first game the defensive line did not look good. And I didn’t just start saying this after the Wisconsin game. I have said it since the Middle Tennessee game. Jim Harbaugh has to replace him with someone who can handle coaching, and be great, in any conference, not just out West. And I’m not sure he was really that great out there either. It’s crystal clear Greg Marttison could do it. He’s doing now, in vivid colors, at Ohio St!

Good read with very plausible explanations for some of things happening.
I know others expected this but I am honestly surprised at how severe the offensive transition is. I didn’t think the Pep offense was broken or needed to be tossed aside. It did need to EVOLVE.
I thought there would be some continuity with Harbaugh, Warriner, and Harbaugh all still being around. This just seems like the logical thing to do.
Harbaugh really did just hand over the keys it seems. I don’t think that’s a bad idea but it does risk something like what we’re seeing in terms of transition costs.
Maybe there’s some reason to hope in this perspective. Gattis is a rookie and maybe can lean on Warriner to help bring in some pieces the QBs and OL are familiar with. Stabilize the ship a bit.
There was another piece with a bunch of player quotes on it. Most of their comments just make them sound like other reactionary fans but one bit I found interesting was that players talked about how they didn’t figure out their offensive identity until well into the season. So again, maybe room for hope.

We’ve had multiple seasons with hot starts with the wheels falling off at the end of the year. Maybe this one can be a bumpy start where things come together.

Jeez, that would be a great reversal of fortune

This team has a lot of problems, both mental and physical, and I don’t see most of them being solved within the context of this season. I’m not even sure this coaching staff can solve them at all.
Our quarterbacking has hit a ceiling of “pretty good”, but neither Patterson nor McCaffrey has big game talent, and that’s not going to change over the next 3-4 weeks. Add to that the fact that they are both injured and neither willing nor able to do everything we need them to do. Our interior Oline simply isn’t as good as hyped, and these are experienced guys. There is no magical transformation in the near future. Charbonnet and Wilson are out for no one knows how long, and what’s left is problematic. Most important of all, we simply have no identity on offense.
Our Dline problems are only going to get worse as the guys we have slowly wear down. It’s clear that Hinton and Smith are not anywhere near ready to contribute in any meaningful way. Dwumfour and Jeter are a crap shoot, it appears. Linebackers have not impressed, and there is no leadership out there, no fire.

But on the bright side, the current state of things seems to have some fans really energized. Look at all these comments!
