Ty Chandler 785x

Nashville (TN) Montgomery Bell RB Ty Chandler

Thanks to reader ATB for the generous donation a few days ago! I haven’t really mentioned it recently, but there is a Paypal button near the bottom of the right sidebar if you’re ever looking to contribute. ADDED TO THE BOARD: 2017
Baton Rouge (LA) Southern Lab defensive end Chris Allen was offered by Michigan. He’s a 6’4″, 222 lb. prospect with offers from Alabama, Auburn, Florida State, Georgia, and LSU, among others. He’s a 247 Composite 4-star, the #7 outside linebacker, and #91 overall. Allen plays middle linebacker in high school, which isn’t a bad idea because he’s their best defender and he can roam around the field from there. But he will probably grow into a pass rushing outside linebacker or maybe a defensive end at the next level. LSU is the heavy favorite.

Nashville (TN) Montgomery Bell running back Tykevius “Ty” Chandler was offered by Michigan. He’s a 5’11”, 190 lb. prospect with offers from Auburn, Florida, Georgia, Notre Dame, Ohio State, and Tennessee, among others. He’s a 247 Composite 4-star, the #4 running back, and #78 overall. As a junior in 2015, he ran 346 times for 2,558 yards (7.4 yards/carry) and 31 TDs. Ole Miss has 86% of the Crystal Ball votes so far. He attends the alma mater of former Michigan offensive lineman Blake Bars, so Michigan has a bit of history recruiting the school; the former coaching staff also went after younger brother Alex Bars in the 2014 class.

Lakeland (FL) Lakeland running back Anthony “A.J.” Davis was offered by Michigan. He’s another 5’11”, 190-pounder who has offers from Auburn, Clemson, Florida, Florida State, LSU, Miami, and Ohio State, among others. He’s a 247 Composite 4-star, the #8 running back, and #115 overall. He’s very quick and changes direction extremely well.

Jaylen Kelly-Powell 725x

Jaylen Kelly-Powell (image via 247 Sports)

I saw the movieĀ Deadpool recently, so now you can talk about spoilers over on the message board (LINK).

Visitors with an asterisk will be visiting Michigan for Wednesday’s basketball game against Northwestern.

2017
*Ja’Raymond Hall – OT – Oak Park (MI) Oak Park: Hall committed to Michigan in December (LINK).

*Jaylen Kelly-Powell – S – Detroit (MI) Cass Tech: Kelly-Powell is a 6’0″, 183 lb. prospect with offers from Michigan, Michigan State, Notre Dame, and Ohio State, among others. He’s a 247 Composite 4-star, the #16 safety, and #249 overall. He had previously named Michigan his leader, although recent developments in his recruitment appear to see him slowing down his recruiting process a bit. He has visited Michigan multiple times already. He will be in town on Wednesday.

*Phillip Paea – OG – Berrien Springs (MI) Berrien Springs: Paea is a 6’4″, 280 lb. prospect with offers from Michigan, Michigan State, Notre Dame, and Ohio State, among others. He’s a 247 Composite 3-star, the #25 defensive tackle, and #381 overall. Most of his offers have come within the past couple weeks, so he’s been under the radar until recently. He’s visiting on Wednesday.

*Donovan Peoples-Jones – WR – Detroit (MI) Cass Tech: Peoples-Jones is a 6’2″, 192 lb. prospect with offers from Florida, Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State, and USC, among others. He’s a 247 Composite 5-star, the #1 wide receiver, and #6 overall. He recently tweeted a bit of excitement about Michigan’s newest commit, 2017 quarterback Dylan McCaffrey.

Hit the jump for a half dozen more visitors.

Recruiting Update: February 22, 2016

Eno Benjamin 711x

COMMITMENT
Littleton (CO) Valor Christian quarterback Dylan McCaffrey committed to Michigan (LINK).

ADDED TO THE BOARD: 2017
Wylie (TX) East running back Eno Benjamin was offered by Michigan. He’s a 5’10”, 204 lb. prospect with offers from Houston, Iowa, Miami, and Texas Tech, among others. He’s a 247 Composite 4-star, the #13 running back, and #170 overall. As a junior in 2015, he ran 366 times for 2,652 yards and 41 TDs; he also caught 18 passes for 232 yards and 2 TDs. Benjamin’s trainer is former Michigan running back David Underwood, and he has been trying to get a Michigan offer for a couple years now. He does not have great top-end speed and is somewhat similar to 2017 running back commit Kurt Taylor, although Taylor probably has the edge in power while Benjamin is a little more elusive. If you want a good chuckle, watch Benjamin’s highlights at the :47 mark; as he breaks free down the sideline, his receiver realizes the cornerback is trailing him in man coverage, so the receiver just keeps sprinting 50 yards downfield while the cornerback has no idea where the ball is.

Kimberly (WI) Kimberly offensive guard Logan Bruss was offered by Michigan. He’s a 6’4″, 260 lb. prospect with offers from Illinois, Nebraska, and Wisconsin, among others. Ben Bredeson aside, it’s typically pretty difficult to pull Wisconsin linemen out of Wisconsin when the state of Wisconsin wants to keep them in Wisconsin. Dorms made of cheese with beer faucets are hard to turn down.

Recruiting Update: February 10, 2016

Netori Johnson 654x

Ellenwood (GA) Cedar Grove offensive guard Netori Johnson

ADDED TO THE BOARD: 2017
Gadsden (AL) Gadsden City offensive tackle Toryque Bateman was offered by Michigan. He’s a 6’8″, 315 lb. prospect with offers from Arizona State, Kentucky, Louisville, Mississippi State, and Tennessee, among others. He’s a 247 Composite 3-star, the #49 offensive tackle, and #409 overall. Bateman moves pretty well for his size, but he struggles to bend at the knees and needs to play lower.

Menomonie (WI) Menomonie offensive tackle Alex Fenton was offered by Michigan. He’s a 6’5″, 280 lb. prospect with an offer from Wisconsin. His Hudl highlights are private and he has not received a ton of recruiting attention yet, so information is pretty slim.

Ellenwood (GA) Cedar Grove offensive guard Netori Johnson decommitted from Alabama. He’s a 6’5″, 330 lb. prospect with offers from Auburn, Georgia, Ole Miss, and USC, among others. He’s a 247 Composite 4-star, the #4 offensive guard, and #114 overall. Johnson was committed to Alabama since last summer, and Michigan was the last offer he received before decommitting. Johnson was one of a flurry of offers that went out recently at Cedar Grove, and he was a teammate of 2016 Michigan signee Elysee Mbem-Bosse.

Hit the jump for some more 2017 offers, a couple 2018 offers, and some random bits.

DECOMMITMENT
Baltimore (MD) Gilman offensive tackle Devery Hamilton decommitted from Michigan and committed to Stanford (LINK).

ADDED TO THE BOARD: 2018
Pickerington (OH) Central tight end Trenton Gillison was offered by Michigan. Gillison is a 6’5″, 220 lb. prospect with offers from Cincinnati, Indiana, and Kentucky, among others. He’s a 247 Sports 4-star, the #6 tight end, and #116 overall. Gillison is a long athlete with a good frame and decent speed.

Newbury Park (CA) Newbury Park quarterback Cameron Rising was offered by Michigan. Rising is a 6’3″, 180 lb. prospect with offers from Arizona, Cal, and Houston, among others. He’s a 247 Sports 4-star, the #7 pro-style quarterback, and #95 overall. He’s a little thin still and needs to add some weight, but he’s an athletic pro-style QB who does a nice job of throwing on the run. As a sophomore in 2015, he completed 191/319 passes (59.9%) for 3,213 yards, 40 touchdowns, and just 1 interception; he also ran 79 times for 756 yards (9.6 yards/carry) and 11 touchdowns.
