7-18-17 Recruiting Update: I’ll Change Just for You

OFF THE BOARD

Bradenton (FL) IMG Academy offensive guard Verdis Brown committed to Florida State. The 6’3″, 294-pounder is the #2 center in the country, according to the 247 Composite. Brown could play guard, center, or defensive tackle in college. Brown had named Michigan to his top 10 recently.

Tampa (FL) Plant defensive tackle Judge Culpepper committed to Penn State. The 6’5″, 256 lb. lineman is the son of former Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive tackle Brad Culpepper, who made a pretty nice pair with Warren Sapp. At one point, Judge was considered to be a tight end, and then a defensive end, and now it seems like he’s looking more and more like daddy.

Atlanta (GA) Carver safety Quindarious Monday committed to Auburn. The 4-star and #9 athlete in the class has some good film of him playing both offense and defense, and at 6’3″, he has a chance to be a very physical safety. Michigan was playing from behind, and this was a bit of an upset win for Auburn over Clemson.

Lindenhurst (NY) Lindenhurst tight end Jeremy Ruckert committed to Ohio State. This is unfortunate, since he’s the #1 tight end in the country. Here’s a tweet I posted last night:

Urban Meyer reportedly told Ruckert that he would change the offense just for him and throw to the tight end more, so I’ll set the over/under at 50 catches for tight ends during any two of Ruckert’s seasons in Columbus.

Sammy Faustin – S – Naples (FL) Naples: Faustin is a 6’2″, 170 lb. prospect with offers from Arizona, Maryland, and Michigan, among others. He’s currently unranked by the 247 Composite rankings. Right now all three Crystal Ball predictions are in favor of Michigan.

He’s a 4-star, the #2 defensive tackle, and #39 overall. Michigan has landed the top player in the state of New Jersey three out of the last four years (Drew Singleton in 2017, Rashan Gary in 2016, and Jabrill Peppers in 2014), and they’re hoping to do so again. Right now Michigan has 80% of the Crystal Ball picks.

The U.S. Army All-American has been committed to the Ducks since June, but at 2-4 and with questions about head coach Mark Helfrich’s job, other teams are going to be poking around Oregon’s commits.

Hit the jump for a couple new 2018 offers, a couple 2019 offers, a few guys who committed elsewhere, and some random bits.
