Recruiting Update: December 25, 2013

Tarpon Springs (FL) East Lake wide receiver George Campbell, Jr. may not be donning those gloves again.

ADDED TO THE BOARD: 2014
Chicago (IL) Simeon offensive tackle Denzel Ward decommitted from Purdue. Ward was committed to Michigan at one point, moved to Florida without telling the coaches, decommitted from the Wolverines, then committed to Purdue, and is now a free agent again considering Nebraska, Oklahoma, South Florida, and Syracuse. I would hate to wait on him at a restaurant.

ADDED TO THE BOARD: 2015
Tarpon Springs (FL) East Lake wide receiver George Campbell, Jr. decommitted from Michigan. Campbell had been committed to the Wolverines since this summer, but he supposedly has some family members asking him to reconsider and stay closer to home. Campbell has a wide receiver teammate headed to Clemson, a quarterback teammate headed to South Florida, and an offensive lineman (Mason Cole) headed to Michigan. Cole will enroll at Michigan in January and may become less of a presence for Campbell, which is probably not a good sign for the Wolverines. The vibe from recruiting experts is that while Michigan will continue to pursue him and remain an option, things are not looking good for him to come to Ann Arbor. Clemson and Florida seem to loom large, and with Florida’s terrible offense this year, I’m looking more at Clemson and their explosive offense as a likely destination.

OFF THE BOARD
La Mirada (CA) La Mirada tight end Tyler Luatua committed to Notre Dame. Luatua was vaguely interested in Michigan early in the process, but the decision reportedly came down to the Fighting Irish or the Alabama Crimson Tide. Luatua is the teammate of 2015 quarterback Kevin Dillman, who has been in contact with Michigan and may be an offer candidate down the road.

Monroeville (PA) Gateway safety Montae Nicholson committed to Michigan State. Nicholson was strongly considering Michigan at one point, but the Wolverines told him a couple months ago that they were no longer recruiting players at his position. Gateway seems to send a lot of players to Ohio State or Pitt, so the Spartans got their foot in the door of a pretty good talent pipeline. I was high on Nicholson as a strong safety type, so it will be interesting to see how he develops in East Lansing.

Bolingbrook (IL) Bolingbrook cornerback Parrker Westphal committed to Northwestern. Westphal was at one time considered a heavy Michigan lean, and various recruiting gurus thought he would be the next guy to commit to Michigan . . . but he never did. He seemed to cool on Michigan a little bit, and the reverse also seemed to be true. It was virtually the same situation as Grand Rapids (MI) Christian center Tommy Doles, although Westphal’s recruitment dragged out longer than Doles’s.

Scottsdale (AZ) Desert Mountain wide receiver/tight end Mark Andrews (image via 247 Sports)

Mark Andrews – TE – Scottsdale (AZ) Desert Mountain: Andrews is a 6’6″, 230 lb. prospect with offers from Arizona, Arizona State, Florida State, Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State, and Oklahoma, among others.  He’s taking a trip through the midwest to see Michigan, Notre Dame, and Ohio State, even though Arizona appears to be his leader.  As a junior in 2012, he had 81 receptions for 1,590 yards and 22 touchdowns; his quarterback is Kyle Allen, a highly regarded player with offers from several Pac-12, Big 12, and SEC schools.  Andrews plays wide receiver and has a desire to play wideout in college, but he will most likely end up at tight end in college.

Ian Bunting – TE – Hinsdale (IL) Central: Bunting is a 6’6″, 210 lb. prospect with recent offers from Florida State, Oklahoma, Oregon, and USC, to go along with his Michigan offer and numerous others.  As a junior in 2012, he had 16 catches for 412 yards and 4 touchdowns.  He would probably play the U-back position like Devin Funchess, since he is long, lean, and rather athletic.  According to the 247 Composite rankings, he’s a 4-star and the #11 tight end in the class.

Ricky DeBerry – DE – Richmond (VA) St. Christopher’s: DeBerry is a 6’2″, 235 lb. prospect for the class of 2015 with offers from Arizona State, Clemson, Iowa, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Penn State, Tennessee, and Virginia Tech, among others.  He is considered to be one of the top few prospects for the 2015 class and plays in the same league as 2014 quarterback commit Wilton Speight.

Garrett Taylor – CB – Richmond (VA) St. Christopher’s: Taylor, standing 6’0″ and 180 lbs., is a classmate of DeBerry’s.  He plays wide receiver and cornerback and has offers from Clemson, Iowa, Oklahoma State, Penn State, Tennessee, and Virginia Tech, among others.

Kyron Watson – LB – East St. Louis (IL) East St. Louis: Watson is a 6’1″, 220 lb. prospect who picked up a Michigan offer last week.  He may not make it to Michigan this weekend, but he does want to visit Ann Arbor soon.  According to the 247 Composite rankings, he’s a 3-star, the #44 outside linebacker, and the #592 player overall.  UPDATE: Watson is rescheduling his visit.

Parrker Westphal – CB – Bolingbrook (IL) Bolingbrook: Westphal is a 6’2″, 186 lb. prospect with offers from Florida, Illinois, Michigan, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Ohio State, and Vanderbilt, among others.  As a junior in 2012, he had 51 tackles, 4 tackles for loss, 3 interceptions, 3 pass breakups, 4 forced fumbles, and 1 fumble recovery.  He has visited Michigan numerous times and is coached by former Michigan cornerback Todd Howard.  247 Sports’ Composite rankings place him as a 4-star, the #12 cornerback, and the #127 player overall.

Detroit (MI) Cass Tech running back Mikey Weber

Joshua Alabi – DT – Detroit (MI) Cass Tech: Alabi, a 2015 prospect, is a 6’5″, 245-pounder with offers from Michigan and Michigan State.  Cass Tech has also sent numerous players to Michigan in recent years, including 2013 prospects David Dawson, Delano Hill, and Jourdan Lewis. UPDATE: Alabi did not end up making the trip.

Jayru Campbell – QB – Detroit (MI) Cass Tech: Campbell, a 2015 prospect, is a 6’3″, 190 lb. quarterback with offers from Alabama, Michigan State, and Notre Dame.  As a sophomore in 2012, he had 2,000 passing yards, 32 touchdowns, and 6 interceptions.  He led the Technicians to state championships in his freshman and sophomore seasons.

Daniel Helm – TE – Chatham (IL) Glenwood: Helm is a 6’5″, 220 lb. tight end with offers from Illinois, Iowa, Indiana, Michigan, North Carolina State, Northwestern, and Tennessee.  Rivals recently ranked him the #201 player overall for the class of 2014.  As a junior in 2012, he had 44 receptions for 810 yards and 17 touchdowns.

Gary Hosey – RB/LB – Detroit (MI) Cass Tech: Hosey is a 6’0″, 225 lb. inside linebacker or fullback with offers from Ball State, Bowling Green, Eastern Michigan, Illinois, and Toledo.

Keith Jones – DE – Detroit (MI) Cass Tech: Jones is a 6’0″, 240 lb. defensive end with no offers at this time.  He claims a 4.74 forty time and a 315 lb. bench press, both of which are impressive numbers for someone his age.  He’s somewhat short for an FBS defensive end prospect, but he still has a couple years to grow.

Mikey Weber – RB – Detroit (MI) Cass Tech: Weber, a 2015 prospect, is a 5’10”, 190 lb. back with offers from Illinois, Michigan, Michigan State, and Syracuse.  As a sophomore in 2012, he had 1,700 rushing yards and 21 touchdowns.

Parrker Westphal – CB – Bolingbrook (IL) Bolingbrook: Westphal is a 6’0″, 186 lb. prospect with offers from Florida, Illinois, Nebraska, Notre Dame, and Ohio State, among others.  As a junior in 2012, he had 51 tackles, 4 tackles for loss, 3 interceptions, 4 forced fumbles, and 1 fumble recovery. He’s a thick-bodied corner who is being recruited as a boundary corner and potentially a slot corner, but I think he also has the size to potentially play either safety position.  While he doesn’t have great speed, he’s fast enough to be a quality player at the next level.  Westphal has maintained throughout most of the recruiting process that Michigan is his leader, so it would not surprise me if he commits at any time.  His high school coach Todd Howard had 151 tackles, 8 interceptions, and 33 pass breakups as a cornerback for Michigan from 1998-2001.

Several class of 2013 signees are visiting campus, including Derrick Green.

Visitors: Michigan vs. Northwestern

Leon McQuay III is the highest touted uncommitted prospect
headed to town this weekend

Adam Bertke – QB – Marion (OH) Local: Bertke is a 6’5″, 190 lb. prospect for 2014.  He threw for about 2,300 yards and 25 touchdowns as a sophomore in 2011.  He has no offers at this time.

Jacob Betschel – TE/LB – Jackson (OH) Jackson: Betschel is a 6’4″, 230 lb. kid from the class of 2014.  He has no offers at this point.  As a sophomore in 2011, he had 33 tackles, 8 tackles for loss, 1 forced fumble, and 3 fumble recoveries. (Highlights.)

Ian Bunting – TE – Hinsdale (IL) Central: Bunting is a 6’7″, 215 lb. tight end prospect from the class of 2014.  He has good speed and obviously a large frame, and he could be a U-back prospect in the same vein as freshman Devin Funchess.  He has a lone offer from Purdue. (Highlights.)

Daniel Cage – DT – Cincinnati (OH) Winton Woods: Cage is a 6’3″, 265 lb. defensive tackle from the class of 2014.  He has offers from Cincinnati, Illinois, and Tennessee, and he attends the alma mater of redshirt freshman linebacker Antonio Poole. (Highlights.)

Jamitreus Crockham – RB – Fishers (IN) Hamilton Southeastern: Crockham is a 6’2″, 205 lb. back from the class of 2014.  As a sophomore in 2011, he had 131 carries for 1,009 yards and 16 touchdowns.  His lone offer comes from Toledo. (Highlights.)

Cario Davison – S – Galion (OH) Galion: Davison is a 6’2″, 190 lb. safety from the 2015 class.  He is teammates with Dareian Watkins, a junior prospect who could very well be on his way to an offer.

Garrett Dickerson – TE – Oradell (NJ) Bergen Catholic: Dickerson is a 6’4″, 240 lb. tight end from the class of 2014 who holds offers from Maryland, Northwestern, Ohio State, Pitt, Stanford, and several others.

Logan Dziak – DT – Delaware (OH) Buckeye Valley: Dziak is a 6’3″, 275 lb. defensive tackle from the class of 2014.  He has no offers at this point, and does not appear to be a Michigan-caliber athlete. (Highlights.)

Andrew Ford – QB – Camp Hill (PA) Cedar Cliff: Ford is a 6’3″, 190 lb. signal caller from the class of 2014.  He has no offers at this point, but he has visited Michigan previously and is the teammate of 2013 tight end Adam Breneman, who was offered by Michigan but committed to Penn State.  As a sophomore in 2011, Ford had 1,362 yards passing, 12 touchdowns, 4 interceptions, and completed 67.3% of his passes.  (Highlights.)

Bruce Hall – OT – Leslie (MI) Leslie: Hall is a 6’5″, 255 lb. offensive lineman with a preferred walk-on offer. (Highlights.)

Nathan Hall – S – Sylvania (OH) Southview: Hall is a 6’3″, 200 lb. prospect for 2014 with offers from Bowling Green and Toledo.  He’s the former teammate of freshman safety Allen Gant. (Highlights.)

Jaleel Hytchye – CB – Cincinnati (OH) La Salle: Hytchye is a 5’11”, 170 lb. cornerback with offers from Arizona State, Cincinnati, Northwestern, Penn State, Pitt, and several others.  He’s the teammate of 2014 wide receiver Derek Kief, who may (or may not) be offered by Michigan.

Jake Johnson – QB – DeWitt (MI) DeWitt: Johnson is a 6’2″, 170 lb. prospect for 2015.  He grew up as a Michigan fan and visited back in April, too, so he could be an in-state prospect to watch down the road.

Da’Mario Jones – WR – Westland (MI) John Glenn: Jones committed to Michigan last week.

John Kelly – S – Oak Park (MI) Oak Park: Kelly is a 5’11”, 180 lb. prospect for 2015.  He has no offers at this time.

Derek Kief – WR – Cincinnati (OH) La Salle: Kief is a 6’5″, 185 lb. receiver with offers from Cincinnati, Illinois, Indiana, and Northwestern.  As of a couple weeks ago, he had 856 receiving yards and 8 touchdowns in his junior campaign.  Kief has visited Michigan previously and really seems to be angling for an offer, but he hasn’t received one yet. (Highlights.)

Josh Krok – OT – Warren (OH) Harding: Krok is a 6’8″, 310 lb. tackle for the class of 2014.  He does not have any scholarship offers at this point, and he looks more like a preferred walk-on type of recruit. (Highlights.)

Jared McCray – OG – Minford (OH) Minford: McCray is a 6’4″, 305 lb. guard from the class of 2014.  He has offers from Akron and Kent State, but I don’t think he’s a Michigan-caliber lineman. (Highlights.)

Leon McQuay III – S – Seffner (FL) Armwood: McQuay is a 6’2″, 185 lb. safety/big corner with offers from just about every powerhouse program in the country.  Florida State, Michigan, USC, and Vanderbilt have been mentioned as possibilities recently, with FSU receiving an uptick in optimism lately.  As a junior in 2011, he had 66 tackles, 4 interceptions, and 12 pass breakups.  Here’s a scouting report I wrote up on him from July.

Bryan Mone – DT – Salt Lake City (UT) Highland: Mone is a 6’4″, 315 lb. tackle for the class of 2014. He put on a bunch of weight between his sophomore and junior seasons, getting up above 300 after being about 260 last year.  Mone was the first class of 2014 prospect to have been offered by the Wolverines, and he’s the former teammate of freshman fullback Sione Houma.  As a sophomore in 2011, he had 39 tackles and 3 sacks. (Highlights.)

Brent Morris – WR – Warren (MI) De La Salle: Morris is Shane’s class of 2014 brother.  He has no offers at this time, and I would not expect him to receive a Michigan offer.

Shane Morris – QB – Warren (MI) De La Salle: Morris committed to Michigan last year. Here are his junior highlights.

Kyle Rachwal – TE – Lapeer (MI) East: Rachwal has visited Michigan several times periously.  He’s a 6’3″, 225 lb. tight end for the class of 2014.  He has no offers at this time. (Junior highlights.)

Travis Smith – QB – Ithaca (MI) Ithaca: Smith is a 6’2″, 200 lb. prospect for 2014.  As a sophomore in 2011, he had 2,378 passing yards, 23 touchdowns, and 3 interceptions; he also ran for 969 yards and 25 touchdowns.  He has no offers at this time, but he looks like a kid who will be getting some attention from the MAC schools, if not the higher levels. (Highlights.)

Scott Sypniewski – LS – Ottawa (IL) Marquette: Sypniewski committed to Michigan back in June.

Logan Tuley-Tillman – OT – Peoria (IL) Manual: Tuley-Tillman committed to Michigan back in February.  Here’s a look at highlights from his senior season.

Jared Wangler – S – Warren (MI) De La Salle: Wangler is the son of former Michigan quarterback John Wangler.  He might be a future walk-on player at Michigan, but he likely doesn’t have the talent to be offered a scholarship.

Dareian Watkins – WR – Galion (OH) Galion: Watkins is a 6’2″, 192 lb. wide receiver prospect from the 2014 class.  He has offers from Cincinnati, Illinois, Northwestern, and Purdue, among others.  As a sophomore playing quarterback in 2011, he had 100 carries for 559 yards and 10 touchdowns, along with 1,256 yards passing, 16 touchdowns, and 4 interceptions.  Watkins isn’t a real blazer, but he is a decent runner after the catch and is solidly built; he looks like a guy who could come in and play in the slot for Al Borges.

Parrker Westphal – CB – Bolingbrook (IL) Bolingbrook: Westphal is a 6’0″, 180 lb. prospect for the class of 2014.  He has offers from Florida, Iowa, Michigan, Michigan State, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Ohio State, and several others.  As a sophomore in 2011, he had 56 tackles, 20 pass breakups, 7 tackles for loss, 2 sacks, 1 forced fumble, and 2 fumble recoveries.  He’s a solidly built corner with decent speed, and it sounds like the coaches want him to play boundary corner and/or slot corner.  Michigan reportedly set the tone for his visit experiences and is generally considered to be his leader.  Former Michigan cornerback Todd Howard is his position coach at Bolingbrook. (Highlights.)

Csont’e York – WR – Harper Woods (MI) Chandler Park: York committed to Michigan back in May.

BBQ at the Big House Visitors: July 29

Derrick Green

Devon Allen – WR – Phoenix (AZ) Brophy Prep: Allen is visiting on Saturday and won’t be around for the BBQ on Sunday, but his visit does indicate somewhat serious interest in Michigan.  However, most analysts seem to believe that LaQuon Treadwell will take the final wide receiver spot in the class and that Allen will head elsewhere, anyway . . . possibly to Ohio State.  I wrote up a scouting report on Allen a couple months ago.

Drew Barker – QB – Burlington (KY) Conner: Barker, a 2014 prospect, is a 6’3″, 204 lb. signal caller with offers from Illinois, Purdue, South Carolina, and a few others.  He originally stated that he would visit for the BBQ, but this visit may will not take place now. (Highlights.)

Jake Butt – TE – Pickerington (OH) North: Butt committed to Michigan in February.

Jimmy Byrne – OG – Cleveland (OH) St. Ignatius: Byrne is a 6’4″, 275 lb. class of 2014 prospect with offers from Illinois, Notre Dame, Ohio State, and West Virginia.  I believe there’s a good chance that he will offered when he visits. (Highlights.)  UPDATE: Byrne will not be visiting this weekend.

Taco Charlton – DE – Pickerington (OH) Central: Charlton committed to Michigan in February.

Mason Cole – OT – Tarpon Springs (FL) East Lake: Cole is a 2014 prospect who holds offers from Clemson, Florida, Florida State, Michigan, Ohio State, South Carolina, Stanford, and USC.  He stands 6’5″ and 267 lbs.

Gareon Conley – CB – Massillon (OH) Washington: Conley committed to Michigan in March.

David Dawson – OG – Detroit (MI) Cass Tech: Dawson committed to Michigan in March.

Nathaniel Devers – OG – Massillon (OH) Washington: Devers, a 2014 prospect, has a single offer from Toledo.  He stands 6’3″ and 265 lbs.  He claims a 385 lb. bench press and a 495 lb. squat, both of which are great numbers for a high school sophomore.  Brady Hoke showed in the 2013 class that he’s willing and able to go after only elite prospects on the offensive line, and I’m not sure Devers fits in that category.  Despite being teammates with 2013 commit Gareon Conley, I would not be surprised if Devers goes without an offer, at least until some other options on the offensive line shake out. (Highlights.)

Tommy Doles – OT – Grand Rapids (MI) Christian: Doles is a 6’5″, 240 lb. prospect whose only offer comes from Michigan so far.  His teammate is 2014 wide receiver Drake Harris, who picked Michigan State over Michigan.  Doles is very athletic, but obviously needs some time to fill out his frame.

Deon Drake – LB – Detroit (MI) Cass Tech: Drake is a 6’1″, 215 lb. weakside linebacker prospect.  He has offers from Notre Dame, Pitt, and some others, but not from Michigan.  If that changes this weekend, he would be one to watch for a commitment, just like most Technicians.  Drake is considered to be the second-best 2014 prospect on the team behind wide receiver/cornerback Damon Webb. (Highlights.)

Jaron Dukes – WR – Columbus (OH) Marion-Franklin: Dukes committed to Michigan in February.

Michael Ferns III – LB – St. Clairsville (OH) St. Clairsville: Ferns is a 6’3″, 230 lb. athlete from the class of 2014.  He looks like a SAM linebacker to me, but he could also play tight end or middle linebacker.  He has already narrowed down his recruitment to a final three of Michigan, Notre Dame, and Penn State.  Several insiders think Michigan is #1 on that list. (Highlights.)

Clifton Garrett – LB – Joliet (IL) Plainfield South: Garrett is a 6’3″, 220 lb. linebacker from the class of 2014.  He already has offers from Illinois, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Ohio State, and Wisconsin, and I would be surprised if he walks away from Ann Arbor without an offer from the Wolverines unless the coaches have off-the-field concerns.  He has a very impressive highlight film and looks like a future middle linebacker, although he could also be utilized at the SAM position.  UPDATE: Garrett will not be on campus this weekend.

Ben Gedeon – LB – Hudson (OH) Hudson:
Gedeon committed to Michigan in April.

Derrick Green – RB – Richmond (VA) Heritage: Green is a 6’0″, 215 lb. tailback with reported 4.37 speed, but he’s more of a two-down running back who struggles to catch the ball.  He has offers from virtually every notable school in the country, including Michigan.  Every other offered running back is off the board, so Green may be Michigan’s last chance to grab an “elite” tailback in the 2013 class.

Jay Hayes – OG – Brooklyn (NY) Poly Prep: Hayes is a 6’5″, 270 lb. lineman from the 2014 class.  He could play either side of the line, but Michigan is recruiting him for offense.  He also has offers from Notre Dame, Oregon, and Penn State, among others.  UPDATE: Hayes is not attending the BBQ.

Khalid Hill – TE – Detroit (MI) Crockett: Hill committed to Michigan in February.

Jonathan Hilliman – RB – Jersey City (NJ) St. Peter’s Prep: Hilliman is a 6’0″, 201 lb. tailback from the class of 2014 who already holds offers from Miami, Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oregon, Penn State, Rutgers, and Wisconsin.  New Jersey has not been particularly kind to Michigan over the last several years, so I would be surprised if he ends up as part of Michigan’s class, and he might not make it to the BBQ. (Highlights.)  UPDATE: Hilliman will not be visiting this weekend.

Corey Holmes – WR – Fort Lauderdale (FL) St. Thomas Aquinas: Holmes is a 6’1″, 172 lb. prospect from the class of 2014.  He has offers from Florida, Michigan, and Wisconsin, among others.  Despite being somewhat small-ish, Holmes looks more like a possession receiver than a blazing downfield threat.  He grew up as a Michigan fan, and although I would be a little surprised if he commits to Michigan anytime soon, I would not be surprised if that occurs sometime down the road. (Highlights.)  UPDATE: Holmes will not be visiting this weekend.

Jamarco Jones – OG – Chicago (IL) De La Salle: Jones is a 6’5″, 285 lb. guard prospect from the class of 2014.  He already has offers from Illinois, Michigan, Michigan State, Notre Dame, and Ohio State, among others.  My guess is that he will end up at Ohio State, but Michigan has a chance to impress him at the BBQ. (Highlights.)  UPDATE: Jones is not visiting for the BBQ.

Coleman Key – QB – Broken Arrow (OK) Broken Arrow: Key camped at Michigan in June and came away without an offer, but he still has a chance.  He’s a 6’5″, 210 lb. prospect from the 2014 class.  He won’t be one of the most highly recruited quarterbacks in the class, but with Shane Morris arriving in 2013, Michigan might have to take a second-tier quarterback to groom behind Morris.  Key has zero offers so far. (Freshman highlights.)

Jourdan Lewis – CB – Detroit (MI) Cass Tech: Lewis committed to Michigan in February.

Montae Nicholson – S – Monroeville (PA) Gateway: Nicholson is a 6’2″, 195 lb. safety with offers from Michigan, Penn State, Pitt, and a few others.  Gateway has sent a lot of kids to FBS schools in recent years, but many have chosen Ohio State or Pitt.  There was some buzz recently that Nicholson might commit to Michigan at the BBQ, but I think that was all it was – buzz. (Highlights.)

D’Andre Payne – CB – Washington (DC) H.D. Woodson: Payne is only 5’9″ and 172 lbs., but he’s a very smooth, dynamic athlete.  Michigan has already offered him as a field corner, but most big schools in the country have offered him, too.  Still, it’s a good sign that he’s planning to return to campus, since he was already in Ann Arbor back in June for summer camp. (Highlights.)

Austin Roberts – WR – Carmel (IN) Carmel: Roberts is a 6’2″, 195 lb. prospect from the class of 2014. He already has offers from Florida, Iowa, Miami, Purdue, and Stanford.  UPDATE: Roberts is not visiting for the BBQ.

Artavis Scott – WR – Tarpon Springs (FL) East Lake: Scott is a 5’11”, 180 lb. receiver from the class of 2014.  He already holds offers from Florida, Florida State, Ohio State, and South Carolina, among others.  Scott has not been offered by Michigan yet, but he will probably receive one on the visit.

Wyatt Shallman – RB – Novi (MI) Catholic Central: Shallman committed to Michigan in February.

Conor Sheehy – DE – Milwaukee (WI) Marquette University: Sheehy is a 6’4″, 255 lb. defensive end with a single offer from Wisconsin.  He camped at Michigan in June and left without an offer, but since he’s been invited back for the BBQ, there’s at least a decent chance the coaches extend an offer in person.

Deveon Smith – RB – Warren (OH) Howland: Smith committed to Michigan in March.

Bentley Spain – OT – Charlotte (NC) Providence: Spain is a 6’6″, 285 lb. prospect from the class of 2014.  He already has offers from Clemson, Florida, LSU, Miami, North Carolina, Penn State, South Carolina, and Stanford, among others.  I have a feeling that South Carolina will be the team to beat.  Spain indicated that he may or may not make it to the BBQ, and usually that means no, so don’t be surprised if he doesn’t appear.  UPDATE: Spain will not be visiting this weekend.

Channing Stribling – CB – Matthews (NC) Butler: Stribling committed to Michigan in June.

Logan Tuley-Tillman – OT – Peorial (IL) Manual: Tuley-Tillman committed to Michigan in February.

LaQuon Treadwell – WR – Crete (IL) Crete-Monee: The recruitment of Treadwell has been well documented.  He has offers from all over the country but wants to visit Oklahoma and Oklahoma State.  However, Michigan is the front-runner, and there’s a decent chance that he will commit to Michigan at the BBQ.  I wrote up a scouting report on him a few months ago.  UPDATE: Treadwell will not be visiting this weekend.

Damon Webb – CB – Detroit (MI) Cass Tech: Webb is a 5’11”, 170 lb. wide receiver/cornerback from the class of 2014.  The Wolverines are recruiting him for defense.  Aside from Michigan, he holds offers from LSU, Michigan State, Ohio State, and Wisconsin, among others.  Michigan is considered to be the heavy favorite for his services, although his recruitment may last beyond the BBQ.

Parrker Westphal – CB – Bolingbrook (IL) Bolingbrook: Westphal is a 6’1″, 181 lb. defensive back prospect with offers from Florida, Illinois, Iowa, Michigan, Michigan State, Nebraska, Ohio State, and West Virginia, among others.  Michigan seems to be #1 on the 2014 prospect’s mind, and he’s coached by former Michigan cornerback Todd Howard.  The Wolverines are recruiting him mainly to play boundary corner and the slot corner position currently inhabited by Courtney Avery. (Highlights.)

William White – LB – Detroit (MI) Cass Tech: White is a 6’1″, 215 lb. linebacker who currently holds no offers.  He’s the son of former Detroit Lions safety William White.  If an offer comes for White, it will likely be some time down the road. (Highlights.)

Csont’e York – WR – Harper Woods (MI) Chandler Park Academy: York committed to Michigan in May.
