In case you’re not aware, I have a list of every Michigan recruit going back 20+ years and their rankings (LINK).
Below you will find each 2021 recruit and his closest ranked comparison by position in Michigan history. This might help boost – or temper – some expectations for what we will see from the class.
I haven’t posted a visitors list in a long time, because visitors haven’t been allowed to visit Michigan since last winter. And they’re still not allowed to visit campus, at least not while having any contact with the coaching staff.
But there is a group of recruits who plan to come to Ann Arbor and hang out together on their own.
2021
Raheem Anderson II – C – Detroit (MI) Cass Tech: Anderson is committed to Michigan (LINK).
Andrel Anthony – WR – East Lansing (MI) East Lansing: Anthony is committed to Michigan (LINK).
Tristan Bounds – OT – Wallingford (CT) Choate Rosemary Hall: Bounds is committed to Michigan (LINK).
Mansfield (MA) Mansfield defensive end T.J. Guy committed to Michigan on Friday afternoon. The former Boston College commit picked the Wolverines over offers from Pitt and Syracuse, among others.
Guy is a 6’4″, 240 lb. prospect. As a junior in 2019, he made 30 tackles and 7 sacks.
Christian Burkhalter – LB – Spanish Fort (AL) Spanish Fort: Burkhalter is a 6’5″, 230 lb. prospect with offers from Florida State, Ohio State, and Tennessee, among others. He’s a 3-star, the #33 athlete, and #388 overall. There’s something special in those Burkhalter genes, because his brother Jackson is a 2020 quarterback who’s listed at 6’5″, 210; Jackson has some FCS offers and some Power 5 preferred walk-on offers (highlights here). Christian plays an outside linebacker position, and he could potentially fill a similar role to what Noah Furbush did at Michigan.
T.J. Guy – DE – Mansfield (MA) Mansfield: Guy is a 6’4″, 240-pounder who’s ranked as a 3-star, the #37 weakside end, and #695 overall. After a recent offer from Michigan, Guy decommitted from Boston College. Ace Anbender put in a crystal ball for Guy to become a Wolverine, for whatever that’s worth. You should only take the time to watch this highlight film if you’re really bored, because two-thirds of it is standing around before the play:
Elijah Arroyo – TE – Frisco (TX) Independence: Arroyo is a 6’4″, 210 lb. prospect with offers from LSU and Miami, among others. He’s a 3-star, the #22 tight end, and #524 overall. As a junior in 2019, he caught 47 passes for 648 yards and 5 touchdowns.
J.D. Coffey III – S – Kennedale (TX) Kennedale: Coffey is a 6’0″, 180-pounder with offers from LSU, Notre Dame, Oregon, and Texas A&M, among others. He’s a 4-star, the #4 safety, and #148 overall in 2021. In three years of high school ball, he already has 14 interceptions.
