Bushell-Beatty was relatively unknown to Michigan fans until he was offered in February 2013. Coming from the same high school as nationally elite recruit Jabrill Peppers, he got a great deal of exposure at Paramus Catholic. He had several notable offers throughout the process, including teams like Florida, Florida State, and Miami, but he decided on Michigan in April. Peppers would remain uncommitted until the summer. Bushell-Beatty had a solid senior season that culminated in a New Jersey state championship, and he was invited to the Under Armour All-America Game, along with several of his future college teammates.
In the UA game, Bushell-Beatty started at left tackle but consistently struggled with the speed rush. He has some bad weight on him, so he needs to trim down and add muscle. Considering some raw technique and the body formation that needs to take place, he’s almost certain to redshirt. Michigan is fairly thin at tackle, but others such as redshirt freshman Logan Tuley-Tillman and true freshman early enrollee Mason Cole are well ahead of Bushell-Beatty.

He's an inconsistent knee bender. I think it has a lot to do with what kind of shape he's in, though. He also needs to work on his balance, his hand punch, his kick set, etc. He's not completely devoid of technique. He actually seems to have a pretty decent idea of what he's SUPPOSED to do, but he doesn't do it consistently enough.

Oh, boy. Yeah, he was in the 2014 class. But even so, I use the college class (freshman, sophomore, etc.) in these profiles. I've been typing up so many 2015 scouting reports and such that I guess I just typed "2015" without thinking. Thanks.

No worries … I see it's updated to "Freshman" now. I like that formulation better.
I can't imagine what it's like to be an incoming freshman like Juwann … facing the near-certain prospect that you'll redshirt … being told your weight is "bad" and that you face some long hours in the weight room as well as a strict dietary program. I guess the good thing is he has company … he won't be the only guy watching what he eats and hitting the iron.
How did you arrive at Juwann Bushell-Beatty as the bottom of the list? I would imagine there was a bunch that could have fallen to the spot … just throw a dart and Juwann got the honor?

Well, as Lanknows will probably point out, I have a tendency to put freshman linemen low on this list. The truth is that they're very likely to redshirt, and Michigan has enough guys on the roster (scholarship or walk-on) not to even really need him this year as a second-team guy or perhaps not even a "starter" on the scout team. He'll get reps in practice and everything, but there are numerous guys ahead of him. Keep in mind that this list starts at #91, so there are already a bunch of walk-ons I'm excluding from the list.

And typically you are right to do so. Last year was an unusual season where the interior of the OL had an extreme lack of depth and inexperience, so playing people like Kugler and Bosch was feasible. This year isn't much better overall, but numberswise and talentwise, there probably is more depth than their was last year.
