ADDED TO THE BOARD: 2018

Valdosta (GA) Lowndes running back Michael Barrett was offered by Michigan. At 5’11” and 208 lbs., Barrett is a 3-star, the #20 dual-threat quarterback, and #589 overall. LSU, Maryland, North Carolina State, South Carolina, Tennessee, and West Virginia have also offered him. Barrett plays quarterback in high school, but Michigan is recruiting him as a running back or athlete. He may not have ideal size or throwing ability for a quarterback in Michigan’s system, but he did completed 132/213 passes for 2,753 yards, 27 touchdowns, and 6 interceptions as a junior in 2016; he also ran 168 times for 1,283 yards and 21 touchdowns.

Hit the jump for a couple more offers and some random bits.

ADDED TO THE BOARD: 2019

Roswell (GA) Blessed Trinity running back/linebacker Steele Chambers was offered by Michigan. He’s a 6’0″, 215 lb. prospect whose only other offer comes from Vanderbilt. Aside from having an awesome name, Chambers is a talented, hard-hitting linebacker prospect, as well as a powerful running back. He could legitimately play on either side of the ball in college. As a sophomore in 2016, he ran 213 times for 1,486 yards and 21 touchdowns; he also made 74 tackles, 1 sack, and 4 interceptions.

ADDED TO THE BOARD: 2020

Hogansville (GA) Callaway running back Cartavious “Tank” Bigsby was offered by Michigan. He’s a 5’11”, 185 lb. prospect who already has offers from Alabama, Florida, Ole Miss, South Carolina, and Tennessee, among others. He has some pretty nice balance and vision, not to mention speed and agility. This is only a freshman:

OFF THE BOARD

Manvel (TX) Manvel cornerback Trent Gordon committed to Penn State. In case you’re wondering whether it pays to do bad things, Miami is #1 in recruiting and Penn State is #2.

West Palm Beach (FL) Oxbridge Academy safety Cajuan “C.J.” Smith committed to Florida. It seemed inevitable since the guy recruiting him was Ja’Juan Seider, Florida’s running backs coach.

Bradenton (FL) IMG Academy defensive tackle Taron Vincent committed to Ohio State. Taron’s brother, Troy, is a junior cornerback at North Carolina State, and Taron’s father, Troy, is a former cornerback at Wisconsin and in the NFL. Despite those two connections, Taron has been seen as an Ohio State lean for a while and we just didn’t want to believe it. Taron is a 5-star, the #1 defensive tackle, and #14 overall in the class. He was previously at Baltimore (MD) Gilman, where current staff member Biff Poggi was the head coach, and the hope was that Poggi could have some sway.

MISCELLANEOUS

Bradenton (FL) IMG Academy offensive guard Curtis Dunlap named Michigan to his top five (LINK).
