The 2014 Davey O’Brien Award watch list was released this morning. The award is given to the top quarterback in the country. No Wolverine has ever won the award. There are a number of players on the list who are of interest to Michigan fans:
Connor Cook – QB – Michigan State
Devin Gardner – QB – Michigan
Everett Golson – QB – Notre Dame*
Christian Hackenberg – QB – Penn State
Brett Hundley – QB – UCLA*
Braxton Miller – QB – Ohio State*
Joel Stave – QB – Wisconsin
Jake Waters – QB – Kansas State
Jameis Winston – QB – Florida State

If Gardner learns to play within himself and not try to win the game on his own, he just very well might be the best QB on this list. No question he has all the raw ability to match any of these QB's and actually more than quite a few noted. He needs to make smart decisions with the ball, period. If he continues to be a turnover machine, we should just start the debate over who will replace Hoke now as the season will be another debacle and Hoke will get whacked
