Chris Clark, TE (Pittsburgh): Clark made 2 catches for 20 yards in the 35-17 loss to North Carolina State.
A.J. Dillon, RB (Boston College): Dillon had a huge breakout game with 39 carries for 272 yards and 4 touchdowns in a 45-42 upset win over Louisville.
Dele’ Harding, LB (Illinois): Harding made 3 tackles in a 35-24 loss to Rutgers.
Damien Harris, RB (Alabama): Harris ran 9 times for 125 yards and 2 touchdowns in a 41-9 win over Arkansas. Seven games into the season, he’s averaging 9.2 yards/carry and has 9 touchdowns, while averaging under 10 carries per game.
David Reese II, LB (Florida): Reese made 9 tackles and 1 tackle for loss in a 19-17 loss to Texas A&M.
Darian Roseboro, DE (N.C. State): Roseboro made 5 tackles, 3 tackles for loss, 1 sack, 1 forced fumble, and 1 quarterback hurry in a 35-17 victory over the Pitt Panthers.
Rashad Weaver, DE (Pittsburgh): Weaver made 2 tackles and 1 tackle for loss in a 35-17 loss to North Carolina State.

D.J. Durkin, Head Coach (Maryland): Durkin and the Terrapins lost to Northwestern, 37-21. Maryland is 3-3 this year.
Brady Hoke, Defensive Line Coach (Tennessee): Rumors have begin to pick up that head coach Butch Jones might be on his way out of town after a 15-9 loss to South Carolina. And who on Tennessee’s staff would be a prime candidate to take over an interim head coaching job? Well, that would be one Brady Hoke, the former head coach of Michigan (and Ball State and San Diego State).
Roy Manning, Outside Linebackers Coach (Washington State): Manning and his Washington State crew followed an upset of USC with a terrible 37-3 loss to Cal.
Rich Rodriguez, Head Coach (Arizona): The Wildcats improved to 4-2 this year with a 47-30 win over UCLA (which drops UCLA to 3-3). Sophomore QB Khalil Tate had 230 yards on 15 carries (15.3 yards/carry) and 2 touchdowns, following a week in which he had 327 yards on 23.4 yards/carry.

Riverside is now 6-0. I’m a little surprised that he didn’t get his first start until game three of the season. Amazing how football coaches never know who their best QB is.
They should always listen to the fans. The fans always know ….. it;s whoever isn’t playing.

Thanks for this regular feature … and thanks for adding Hoke to the list of things discussed. If the rumors are true, then I feel a bit sorry for Hoke, as HC of Tennessee right now — even interim — can’t be an inviting place.

Hoke’s not gonna get a big job otherwise after how things have gone since 2011.
This would be a huge opportunity for him.
If they get crushed by Alabama as expected and Jones is fired, Tenn will have 5 games left – all of them winnable.It certainly would not be easy, and they would be underdogs in many of them, but it’s an opportunity.
If Hoke somehow managed to close the year 5-0 it would certainly put him in a better position than today, and he might even hold onto the job…
I wouldn’t bet on it though.

Hoke’s situation is not totally unlike that of Ed Orgeron at LSU. He’s an experienced head coach, though that experience is so-so. If he does well as an interim – and we already know players respect him – then there could be a groundswell of support. The bottom line is that a lot of teams are taking flyers on coaches when they get hired, whether they got fired from other jobs or whether they’re assistant or lower-level coaches getting promoted. It’s very rare that someone like Meyer, Harbaugh, Saban, etc. just show up at your doorstep naturally.

Orgeron was the guy that came to my mind too. Not that it’s a ringing endorsement…
Point is, if this does go down this way, nobody should feel sorry for Hoke getting yet another chance that he may or may not deserve. A lot of coaches would kill for an opportunity to coach at Tenn, even in tough circumstances.

Of those former players listed, I am most bitter about losing Damien Harris. Not just the fact that he’s a very good RB, but the way we lost him to ‘bama. Stings.

I have no idea why anyone would look at the Borges’ offense at Michigan and then say to themselves, “I want to play for that guy and the second he is fired I will de-commit”. That game against PSU that Michigan lost in overtime should have gotten Borges fired on the spot.

Eh, I get what you’re saying to an extent, but Borges coached some running backs to pretty good seasons. He did well at Auburn, had Ronnie Hillman at SDSU, helped Toussaint/Robinson put up decent numbers at Michigan, etc. Almost every coach has his success stories (which is why they get big-time jobs) and his non-success stories (since very few people coach great teams every year).

Well it probably does not apply to Harris, but any OC who absolutely refuses to take what the defense is giving him because he doesn’t like the structure of a certain (flanker screen) play, and instead repeatedly calls plays that the team cannot execute should not be coaching. His whole philosophy at Michigan was, this play works in theory and I will call it no matter how many times it fails, because it works in theory. Towards the end it was actually comical seeing how stubborn he was with that approach while the team was rushing for negative yardage.
