2020 Recruiting Update: February 7, 2019

ADDED TO THE BOARD: 2020

Ashton Allen – S – Potomac (MD) Bullis: Allen is a 6’2″, 185 lb. prospect with offers from Boston College and Maryland. He attends the alma mater of former Ohio State quarterback Dwayne Haskins, who was committed to Maryland at one time.

Kedrick Bingley-Jones – DE – Charlotte (NC) Providence Day School: Bingley-Jones is a 6’4″, 266-pounder with offers from Florida, Florida State, Georgia, and Oklahoma, among others. He’s a 4-star, the #11 strongside end, and #202 overall. He claims a 5.21 forty, a 4.88 shuttle, and a 31.5″ vertical.

Itayvion Brown – LB – St. Louis (MO) Lutheran North: Brown is a 6’3″, 210 lb. prospect with offers from Iowa, LSU, Missouri, and Texas A&M, among others. He’s a 3-star, the #36 athlete, and #455 overall. While he plays quite a bit of wide receiver in high school, I think he’s too stiff to remain at that position and will probably end up at linebacker or defensive end in college.

Nightly Roundup: February 5, 2019

Chris Evans

A lot of stuff happened today in the world of Michigan football. I don’t have time to write about it all because I woke up at 3:30 a.m. and worked until 8:30 p.m., so we’ll just stick with the roundup:

Presumed starting running back Chris Evans isn’t on the team anymore, so that’s awesome (LINK).

Former Michigan running back and running backs coach Tyrone Wheatley, Jr. will be the new head coach at Morgan State (LINK).

Quarterbacks coach Pep Hamilton will be coaching somewhere else next season (LINK).

The student body walk-on tryout process begins tomorrow:

The early signing period in December has really screwed up what used to be a very exciting first week of February, so while there’s not a ton of build-up to this day anymore, there are still some things happening in the world of 2019 recruiting. I’ll break down some of the more interesting situations.

Nightly Roundup: February 4, 2019

Tom Brady (image via Philly.com)

The jerk who shined a laser on Tom Brady in the AFC Championship game didn’t get away with it (LINK).

The Detroit News asked a bunch of in-state recruits why they did (or did not) pick Michigan and Michigan State (LINK).

Bruce Feldman, from The Athletic, revisits the main characters from his Meat Market book (LINK).

This truly was the best commercial of the whole Super Bowl. I loved seeing the “old-timey” football players.

Here’s a little bit of info about the Lombardi Trophy:
