Michigan’s 2017 Spring Combine Results

Rashan Gary (image via The Wolverine)

Jim Harbaugh tweeted out the results of Michigan’s spring combine. I won’t list all of the results (though I’m embedding the tweet below), but here are a few notable achievements and takeaways:

  • Freshman WR Donovan Peoples-Jones is the fastest guy on the team with a 4.41 forty
  • Peoples-Jones also has the best vertical at 39″
  • Chris Evans swept the RB drills and ran a 4.62 forty
  • Zach Gentry is back at TE and ran a 4.7 forty
  • Jon Runyan, Jr. almost swept the OL category, with one lone loss to Cesar Ruiz in the pro shuttle
  • Lavert Hill and David Long tied with a 4.52 forty
  • Rashan Gary led the defensive line with a 4.57 forty, so he’s just 0.05 seconds slower than Michigan’s two presumed starting corners

In his own words – Kevin Koger, Part 1

(image via Wikipedia)

This week I had the pleasure of talking to former Michigan co-captain Kevin Koger.  Kevin played tight end from 2008-2011, and now is the receivers coach at Eastern Kentucky University.  We had a really fun conversation that touched on a little bit of everything.  In Part 1, we talk about his transition to coaching and the Michigan-Ohio State rivalry.  In Part 2 (tomorrow) we get a little more in depth about the 2010 and 2011 seasons, and his perspective on the transition from Coach Rodriguez to Coach Hoke.  I hope you enjoy!

Goodbye, Jabrill Peppers

HIGH SCHOOL
As we all remember, Peppers went to Paramus (NJ) Catholic, where he was coached by current Michigan linebackers coach Chris Partridge. He chose Michigan in May of 2013 (LINK), roughly nine months before National Signing Day. One of the most celebrated players in the 2014 class altogether, Peppers was a star in New Jersey for winning four state championships (two at Don Bosco, then two at Paramus Catholic) and generally having ridiculous athleticism. I gave him a TTB Rating of 100.

Hit the jump for more on Peppers’s career.

Brian Asamoah (image via Twitter)

2018

Brian Asamoah – LB – Columbus (OH) St. Francis DeSales: Asamoah is a 6’0″, 205 lb. prospect with offers from Cincinnati, Michigan, Notre Dame, Penn State, Pitt, and UCLA, among others. He’s a 3-star, the #44 linebacker, and #609 overall. Right now 100% of his Crystal Ball picks are in favor of Cincinnati, and he plans to announce on April 21. It’s not clear whether he’s a take for Michigan right now, since they took so many linebackers in the 2017 class, but he has named Michigan to his top 6. UPDATE: Asamoah cancelled his visit, supposedly because Jim Harbaugh won’t be in Ann Arbor.

Trent Gordon – CB – Manvel (TX) Manvel: Gordon is a 5’11”, 172 lb. prospect with offers from Cal, Colorado, Florida, LSU, Oklahoma, Oregon, Penn State, and Texas A&M, among others. He’s a 3-star, the #38 cornerback, and #446 overall. As a junior in 2016, he made 81 tackles, 4 tackles for loss, 2 interceptions, and 10 pass breakups. He’ll be in town on Tuesday, March 14.
