I can't evaluate a 6.62 in the three cone drill and 4.19 in the Shuttle. Good? Good enough? Meh? Not happening?

I do believe that a 4.58 40 is meh- for a strong safety in the NFL.

I often think that missing the NFL is often the best thing that can happen to a kid like Kovacs as the NFL for damn sure takes years off and frequently results in a horribly reduced quality of life. I think I'd rather see Jordan Kovacs disappointed for the next 70 years over not playing on Sunday than have him become the next Leroy Hoard.

A 6.62 three cone drill would have placed Kovacs at #3 in the Combine for safeties.

A 4.58 forty would have placed Kovacs at #10 in the Combine for safeties.

A 4.19 shuttle would have placed Kovacs at #9 in the Combine for safeties.

Do you think he gets drafted?

No, I don't. But I think teams will want him as an UFA.

How many safeties were at the combine?

Kovacs' numbers seem really good for someone who was always considered to lack the athleticism but make up for it with technique and instincts.

    Any word on Craig Roh?

I think with those times Kovacs could find himself on a roster as a special teams ace. As a Browns fan we had guys like Nick Sorensen and Ray Ventrone.

Any idea who put up the most reps on the bench press at the combine?

Margus Hunt and Brandon Williams each did 38.

    Per Kyle Meinke:

@kmeinke Kovacs did 16 reps in the bench

Aren't these just hand timed events though? It always seems like the hand timing is a little less then the electronic timing they have at the combine. If this is true then Kovacs did better then Denard's Shuttle (4.22) and 3-cone (7.09)

Yes, they're hand-timed, which means the times are probably a little better than they should be.

Those numbers are pretty impressive for Campbell and Kovacs. Depending on how Campbell moved in the 40, I could see him getting picked up in the 6th or 7th round. I don't know if I see Kovacs being picked up in the draft, but I could definitely see him signing on somewhere as an UFA.

I don't see Tree being picked up anywhere.

Floyd probably isn't going to be picked up anywhere.

Not hearing anything about Vincent Smith. Did he participate in any of these drills?

    Thanks for the updates.

I believe Vincent is teaching kids down in Florida. I don't believe there is any football in his future, as a player at least.

Smith supposedly participated, according to MGoBlue.com's release.

Roundtree is a stud and also a sleeper. He put up major numbers. What round do you see this guy?

Roundtree didn't put up major numbers, either in production or at his pro day. I don't think he'll get drafted.

i think kovacs and roundtree help themselves out tremendously – kovacs 4.58 isnt that bad especially on the shuttle shows he is not the turtle everyone thought that he was – same goes for tree 4.50 flat is a much faster time than i ever thought tree would run – sleeper on both of them.

I'm amazed at Hawthorne's bench number. More than Demens, who probably outweights him be at least 20, and close to 300+ Mealer.

    Some thoughts on previous comments:
    — I like Roundtree and was glad to have him a part of the program, but he's not a stud. He isn't physical enough, has mediocre straight line speed, isn't a quick-twitch guy in space, and has shaky hands. He would have been great in RichRod's offense, but I don't see him moving on.
    — Hawthorne's bench press was probably aided by his tiny T-Rex arms. Just kidding, I liked him too for the role player he was.
    — I hope Campbell, Demens, and Omameh did enough to get a chance somewhere. I think they all have enough talent to flirt with practice squads and back-up spots. But keep Big Will's bench in mind…..a few years ago Will Johnson was a long-time starter and high effort guy known for his smarts who put up 49 reps (which would have been a combine record). He didn't get a sniff from the NFL.
    — I'm thrilled and shocked by some of Kovacs numbers. I was hoping he'd get into coaching right away so he could work his way back to Michigan in that capacity…..but maybe he's got some more football left.
