Let’s see more of this guy on offense . . . good Shea Patterson. Over the past three weeks, Patterson is completing 65.5% of his passes for 10.4 yards per attempt with 10 touchdowns and 1 interception. And the worst of those three performances was against Maryland, not MSU or Indiana. This particular week saw him throw for 366 yards and 5 touchdowns on 11.4 yards per attempt.

Hit the jump for more.

Let’s see less of this guy on offense . . . nobody. Things are rolling pretty well right now.

Let’s see more of this guy on defense . . . Brad Hawkins. Hawkins missed last week’s game. He’s Michigan’s fourth leading tackler (53) and has done a pretty good job in underneath coverage this year. Michigan would be much better off next week if he’s available, because I say . . .

Let’s see less of this guy on defense . . . Vincent Gray. With Hawkins out against Indiana, that moved Daxton Hill into the starting lineup at safety. And while I was fine with that and Hill played pretty well, his backup at nickel appeared to be Gray. Gray has repped mostly at cornerback, and he’s someone in whom I do not have absolute trust when it comes to playing the athletes that Ohio State will run out there next Saturday.

Play of the game . . . Donovan Peoples-Jones’s touchdown catch. There were other good plays (the Dax Hill interception, the 76-yard catch-and-run by Nico Collins, the Josh Uche sack/FF/FR, etc.), but that Peoples-Jones catch was a thing of beauty.

MVP of the game . . . Shea Patterson. He was 20/32 for 366 yards, 5 touchown passes (#2 all-time at Michigan), and 1 interception.

One thing I love about the English language is the usage of almost opposite words to describe the same thing.

That catch was a thing of beauty.
    vs.
    That catch was fucking filthy.

That DPJ catch should be in contention for play of the year.

Hawkins was missed. Throughout the year I’ve noticed his coverage can result in busted plays at times, but I would agree he’s needed.

Let’s see less of this guy on offense: I’m going to echo your earlier sentiments, wildcat RBs with no misdirection.

I wonder how this year would have gone if Shea hadn’t injured his oblique on the first play from scrimmage against MTSU. It affected his accuracy throwing, his willingness and ability to keep in the run game, and basically the entire offense. I don’t think it’s hyperbole to imagine that this game might have the division championship and a playoff berth on the line if the offense could have gotten up to speed several weeks earlier. Either way I have a really good feeling about this week and I really believe that this will be a win that converts this season from acceptable to great.

Lots of whatifs Jetski. I’ll add a healthy DPJ at Madison, or even having our interior DL healthy enough to not need Mason taking quality reps

Touche. I still think Patterson’s injury had easily the most significant effect on the first half of the season.

Go Blue! Let’s beat those nuts from Columbus!

We need Hawkins back. He’s impressed this year with his athleticism and reliability. Fighting off a player like Dax Hill is a feat.

If history holds OSU will try to pick on the weakest link on the D. I’d rather that be Glasgow than Gray, though I suspect the real answer might be running it down our throats (i.e., Dwumfour, Kemp, Uche)

    Since it’s Thanksgiving.

I’m Thankful for how healthy Michigan has been all year. Very few injuries have impacted this team. Steuber went down but Mayfield was supposedly 1B there. DPJ missed some time but WR is arguably our deepest position. Injuries to Ross and Wilson have seemed to open up opportunities for better players.

Arguably the most impactful injury was whatever was going on with Shea early in the year.

Let’s hope Hawkins is back and we don’t have to mention that one…
