Who’s more deserving of wearing the #1 jersey?

  • 48 catches, 759 yards, 1 touchdown
  • 37 catches, 729 yards, 7 touchdowns

As you might have guessed, the first guy is Ronnie Bell. The second is Nico Collins. I’m not sure it totally makes sense to give the #1 jersey to the guy with 11 fewer catches, but I don’t really care too deeply. I like them both.

Award watch list notes:

  • WR Nico Collins was named to the Biletnikoff Award watch list for best WR
  • TE Nick Eubanks was named to the Mackey Award watch list for best TE
  • DE Kwity Paye was named to the Bednarik Award watch list for best defensive player

Khaleke Hudson doesn’t like his strength rating in Madden:

I don’t really understand why Michigan doesn’t throw many bubble screens. It’s a great way to set up the running game and various passing combinations, and as Michigan gets more “speed in space” guys, I would think they would want to get them the ball and let them work:

Georgia 4-star WR Jayden Thomas named Michigan to his top 5:

Neither. The #1 jersey has become a joke. The coach should never feel obligated to give it to anyone, but it’s been going to players who are nothing special, just to be giving it out. Collins and Bell and both good receivers, but that’s all. They are not even remotely in the class of guys like Carter, Terrel and Edwards.

It’s marketing WCB; fans eat it up

It’s incentivizing too; maybe it’ll light a fire under Nico

    And, it’s free. Win-win

It’s not incentivizing if you don’t have to play any better than Collins or Bell did last year to get it. And fans don’t eat it up when it’s little better than a participation trophy.

You don’t eat it up. I don’t eat it up. But nico boasting about it on social media demonstrates the incentive exists. The feedback & conversation among fans are eating it up

WRs should have to put up a 1000 yard season before they get the #1. That’s what Braylon did his sophomore year.

I get that the #1 wasn’t always earned, but Braylon having to earn it changed things.

Nice to see Eubanks on the list. I think we’ll see big things from him if they play this year.
