On Tuesday of last week, I posted a projected depth chart for the offense (LINK). Today I’ll take a look at the defense, which is expected to be a 4-3 with a defensive back-type player inhabiting the strongside linebacker-type role in some packages. With position previews forthcoming, I didn’t bother to elaborate on depth. Michigan is bringing in some early-impact guys on defense who should be the two-deep by the fall, but the roster is limited this spring since 22 of the incoming freshmen aren’t enrolled yet.

It’s a spring football depth chart. Rashan Gary won’t enroll until this summer/fall.

Starters looks good, with the exception of Furbush, but depth in the back 7 is worrisome for this year, and projects to a very shaky starting lineup for 2017. Harbaugh and Co. will really have to show their chops in player development this year, because a lot of guys in only their second year seeing the field will be pressed into service next year.

Jordan Glasgow? Really? Do you think he’s good or couldn’t you come up with another name?

I’ve heard good things about Jordan Glasgow, and Michigan doesn’t have a ton of depth at safety. Also, it doesn’t hurt that the other two Glasgows have turned out to be pretty good.

Interesting. Looking forward to see how the preliminary LB depth shakes out and what they do along the DL too.
