Those 50 yards are nice to see. Not going to be as immobile as Rees

Yeah, those numbers are terrible…only three touchdowns. Can we steal Eastern's QB instead?

Definitely would've rather had Cornwell… Not saying Speight looks bad but when I watched his highlights he kind of has a rag arm.

Borges is an idiot for not taking Cornwell. Borges is an idiot to begin with for playcalling and gameplans, everyone thinks he's so good, yet he's average for the Big Ten. So much rather have Tom Herman, Mike McCall, Andy Ludwig, and Bill O'Brein. Borges needs to go after this season. He's a horrible coach, and is a prick off the field at his press conferences, talking to anyone not on the coaching staff, etc. I remember going to one of the Michigan open bowl practices, and Borges dropping the F bomb every other word when talking to Devin Gardner and Roy Roundtree, and the offense, then when someone tried to talk to him he'd start screaming at them and using AWFUL language. He's a big baby, and not ready for big boy football. There's my rant against Al Borges.

Don't want to give Borges the boot just yet. Granted – I've never been to one of their practices, I haven't seen how he interacts with his players. I hope he doesn't degrade them, but a little cussing on the football field isn't a big deal in my eyes.

He's had success at some of his stops, most notably Auburn 2004. But the thing that really disappoints me about Borges is simple: he doesn't adapt.
During his stint in Auburn, their PPG started declining every year after. Makes me think he's only willing to do things one way, and teams will adapt. After seeing 2011-2013, I don't think he adapts to his players either.

A great coach will use the talent they have. See: Greg Mattison taking our terrible defense to serviceable in 2011. Borges was trying to have Denard Robinson, who already had a terrible arm, make some NFL type throws. Sure – the plays may have been great and Borges may have found holes in the defense, but he needs to understand his players have limitations.

      Just my thoughts.

Wilton Speight almost seems to be better than Shane Morris, I know I'm probably almost certainly wrong. but watching his videos, and his stats, he seems remarkable.

The only number I want to see is interceptions, anything less than two a game is acceptable!

It would be interesting to see an entire game on this kid rather than just highlights in order to form an opinion about his incomplete passes. Was he moving, chased out of the pocket, drops, just flat out misses ….. ?

Thunder, just wondering…Do you think there's any way that Speight is better than Morris? He looks pretty good.

That's certainly a possibility. I wasn't overly impressed with Morris coming out of high school, although he does have potential. Speight has some decent physical skills as a pocket passer, but it remains to be seen whether he can be better than Morris. I don't think either one is clearly ahead of the other.

How good is the competition that Speight is playing against? If the opponents are legit, his numbers look really good and I'm excited. If he's playing against cupcakes, then I think our expectations of him need to be tempered.

The competition isn't that great. They play a lot of small-ish private schools around the Richmond area. There are some good players in the area (Ricky DeBerry, for example), but it's not like Virginia's Tidewater region, Florida, Texas, etc.

I figured you were going to say that… I've heard comparisons that Speight is like Big Ben. I tall kid, strong arm, and enough mobility to get out of trouble. He isn't going to juke many folks, but will be tough to bring down with arm tackles.

LOL, 5 picks in his last gem ….. 6 carries for 79 yards ….. he's morphing into D Gardner right before our very eyes.

    9 and 2.
