ADDED TO THE BOARD: 2017
Murrieta (CA) Valley wide receiver Maurice Bell was offered by Michigan. He’s a 6’0″, 170 lb. prospect with offers from Iowa and Nebraska, among others. He’s a 247 Composite 3-star, the #92 wide receiver, and #603 overall. He’s a solid receiver with decent quickness who is tough to take to the ground.

Greensboro (NC) Grimsley linebacker Brelin Faison-Walden was offered by Michigan. He’s a 6’1″, 197 lb. prospect with offers from Alabama, Florida State, and Georgia, among others. He’s a 247 Composite 3-star, the #33 safety, and #431 overall. I think Faison-Walden would fit in at Don Brown’s SAM linebacker position, where he could support the run and cover a little bit. I was unaware of him prior to Michigan’s offer, but I would not be disappointed if he joined Michigan’s class.

Hit the jump for a new 2018 offer, a commitment elsewhere, and some random bits.

ADDED TO THE BOARD: 2018
Las Vegas (NV) Bishop Gorman linebacker Palaie Gaoteote was offered by Michigan. He’s a 6’2″, 205 lb. prospect with offers from Nebraska, Notre Dame, Ohio State, and Utah, among others. He’s a 247 Sports 4-star, the #4 outside linebacker, and #91 overall. He’s a teammate of 2017 quarterback Tate Martell (Texas A&M) and cornerback Alex Perry.

OFF THE BOARD
Baltimore (MD) Gilman quarterback Kasim Hill committed to Maryland. Michigan was thought to have a good chance when they initially offered, considering Michigan’s relationship with Gilman. However, Hill is not a prototypical Jim Harbaugh quarterback as more of a dual-threat player, and the commitment of Dylan McCaffrey to the Wolverines probably closed the door for most other players at the position.

MISCELLANEOUS
I posted a scouting report on Bridgeton (NJ) Bridgeton wide receiver/safety Markquese Bell (LINK).

Detroit (MI) Cass Tech offensive guard Jordan Reid named Michigan as the #2 team in his top five, right behind Florida.

Thomson (GA) Thomson cornerback Christian Tutt visited Michigan last weekend, but the coaching staff was on vacation so he didn’t get much of a chance to interact with key personnel.

We have found at least one ref in the state of North Carolina who is definitely not a D1 prospect.
