Detroit (MI) Country Day LB Kolin Demens

ADDED TO THE BOARD: 2018
Detroit (MI) Country Day linebacker Kolin Demens was offered by Michigan. He’s a 6’3″, 205 lb. prospect with only one other offer, which is from Nebraska. The younger brother of former Michigan middle linebacker, Kolin is a lankier outside linebacker type of player.

Tampa (FL) Cambridge Christian offensive tackle Richard Gouraige was offered by Michigan. He’s a 6’5″, 270 lb. prospect with offers from Auburn, Florida, Georgia, Miami, and North Carolina, among others. He’s a 247 Sports 4-star, the #5 offensive tackle, and #31 overall. Gouraige has some tantalizing athleticism and could play defensive end or defensive tackle, but he also looks like an ideal left tackle prospect. He was a Maxpreps Freshman All-American.

Hit the jump for several more 2018 offers and some random bits.

Mission Viejo (CA) Mission Viejo cornerback Olaijah Griffin was offered by Michigan. He’s a 6’0″, 170 lb. prospect with offers from Cal, Oregon, and UCLA, among others. He’s a 247 Sports 4-star, the #5 cornerback, and #44 overall. He is the son of famed West Coast rapper Warren G, and I was prepared to be underwhelmed by his film because sometimes celebrities’ kids get too much hype, but Olaijah is the real deal. He’s physical and fast, breaks well on the ball, and makes plays with the ball in his hands. He’s probably the most impressive corner prospect Michigan has offered so far in the 2018 class.

Northport (AL) Tuscaloosa inside linebacker Jacquez Jones was offered by Michigan. He’s a 6’1″, 225 lb. prospect whose lone offer comes from the Wolverines. As a sophomore in 2015, he made 100 tackles, 12 sacks, and 3 interceptions.

Duluth (GA) Northview wide receiver Kyler McMichael was offered by Michigan. He’s a 6’1″, 185 lb. prospect with offers from Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, and Virginia Tech, among others. He’s a 247 Sports 4-star, the #14 cornerback, and #135 overall. I am not impressed with McMichael’s coverage awareness or tackling ability, so I’m pegging him as a wide receiver when many have him listed as a corner prospect.

Mission Viejo (CA) Mission Viejo wide receiver Austin Osborne was offered by Michigan. The teammate of Griffin is a 6’3″, 185 lb. prospect with offers from Louisville, Oregon, and Washington. He’s a 247 Sports 4-star, the #32 wide receiver, and #204 overall. Osborne is a little mechanical in his route running, but he claims 4.58 speed and catches the ball well in traffic. In the aftermath of the offer, he said that Michigan passing game coordinator Jedd Fisch compared his game to Eric Decker’s (whom Fisch coached at Minnesota).

Calabasas (CA) Calabasas cornerback Brendan Radley-Hiles was offered by Michigan. He’s a 5’10”, 175 lb. prospect with offers from Arizona, Arizona State, Florida, and Ohio State, among others. He’s a 247 Sports 4-star, the #8 cornerback, and #80 overall. He played his sophomore year at Las Vegas (NV) Bishop Gorman before transferring to Calabasas, and he’s probably not quite 5’10”, at least not as of last season. Radley-Hiles has some nice makeup speed and he’s feisty, but his lack of size is an issue both in coverage and in run support. He has family in Michigan and has visited the state several times, though he has not visited campus.

Leesburg (GA) Lee County safety Otis Reese was offered by Michigan. He’s a 6’2″, 195 lb. prospect with offers from Central Michigan, Louisville, and Troy. He’s rated as a 247 Sports 4-star, the #11 safety, and #117 overall. Reese is listed as a safety, but I would be very surprised if he’s not a linebacker by the time he hits college. Not only does he have the size, but he also lacks the suddenness and agility to be a defensive back. Lee County already plays him as sort of a SAM linebacker, and maybe that’s where he would fit in a scheme like Michigan’s.

Bothell (WA) Bothell quarterback Jacob Sirmon was offered by Michigan. He’s a 6’3″, 205 lb. prospect who committed to Washington in December of 2015; he also has offers from Nebraska and Washington State. He’s a 247 Sports 4-star, the #3 pro-style QB, and #25 overall. As a sophomore in 2015, he was 120/188 (64%) for 1,833 yards and 19 touchdowns. His commitment to the Huskies is reportedly solid, so there’s not a great chance to flip him. However, he is a very solid pocket QB with a strong arm and some good mechanics for a sophomore.

St. Louis (MO) Parkway North offensive tackle Michael Thompson, Jr. was offered by Michigan. He’s a 6’4″, 275 lb. prospect with offers from Illinois, Iowa, Kansas State, Louisville, and Missouri, among others. He’s a 247 Sports 4-star, the #6 offensive tackle, and #43 overall. Thompson is more of a right tackle or guard prospect.

Claremont (CA) Claremont linebacker Solomon Tuliaupupu was offered by Michigan. He’s a 6’3″, 230 lb. prospect with offers from BYU and Washington. He’s a 247 Sports 4-star, the #12 outside linebacker, and #214 overall. As a sophomore in 2015, he made 142 tackles, 8 TFLs, and 3 sack. He’s a big hitter who looks like a true middle linebacker going forward.

Bellflower (CA) St. John Bosco safety Jaiden Woodbey was offered by Michigan. He’s a 6’1″, 195 lb. prospect with offers from Arizona, Cal, LSU, Oklahoma, and USC, among others. He’s a 247 Sports 4-star, the #6 safety, and #77 overall. Woodbey is a Jamar Adams type of safety. He was a teammate of 2017 RB Nathan Tilford (Arizona) last year at Upland (CA) Upland before transferring to Bosco, where he will be a teammate of OT Wyatt Davis.

MISCELLANEY
The way I make visitors lists is by tracking comments, tweets, articles, etc., literally months ahead of time sometimes. A couple months ago, I saw word that Seattle (WA) Skyline OT Henry Bainivalu was going to visit Michigan in mid-April, so I put him on my list. When literally nobody in the Michigan recruiting sphere mentioned it or reported it last week, I thought it must have fallen through. NSFMF! Steve Lorenz from 247 Sports confirmed on Monday that Bainivalu did indeed visit.

I’m liking Kolin Demens. He’s real sudden changing direction and has surprising acceleration from such a stretchy kid with so much stride. Has some hands too.

6’3″, 205 at 16, he could be a beast by the time he hits the field at the college level.
