2021 Recruiting Update: January 8, 2021

Da’Qualen “D.Q.” James – RB – Lancaster (TX) Lancaster: James is a 5’7″, 180 lb. prospect who’s committed to Hawaii. He did not sign during the early signing period, but Michigan has not extended an offer yet. He’s a 3-star, the #20 all-purpose back, and #1781 overall. As a senior in 2020, he ran the ball 82 times for 1,404 yards and 22 touchdowns. Personally, I know Michigan needs defensive tackles and cornerbacks, but aside from that, I don’t mind late additions of “athletes” who can come in and play a variety of positions.

Judge Culpepper – DT – Penn State: Culpepper is listed at 6’4″ and 291 lbs. He was a 3-star coming out of Florida in the class of 2018. Culpepper is the son of former Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive tackle Brad Culpepper. He made 5 tackles and 0.5 sacks in 2020.

Visitors: Michigan vs. Wisconsin

I haven’t posted a visitors list in a long time, because visitors haven’t been allowed to visit Michigan since last winter. And they’re still not allowed to visit campus, at least not while having any contact with the coaching staff.

But there is a group of recruits who plan to come to Ann Arbor and hang out together on their own.

New Offer: 2021 CB Ceyair Wright

Michigan offered Los Angeles (CA) Loyola cornerback Ceyair Wright on Wednesday. He’s a 4-star, the #6 cornerback, and #81 overall at 6’1″ and 175 lbs. He has offers from Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Oregon, and USC, among others.

Wright is committed to the 2021 All-American Bowl.
