Visitors: Michigan vs. Wisconsin

Alex Leatherwood

This might be Michigan’s biggest recruiting weekend of the year, since the MSU and OSU games are on the road. So here’s an early list of the visitors headed to Ann Arbor.

2017

Jordan Anthony – LB – Bradenton (FL) IMG Academy: Anthony is a 6’0″, 220 lb. prospect with offers from Auburn, Clemson, Georgia, Maryland, Michigan, Oklahoma, and Penn State, among others. He’s a 247 Composite 4-star, the #7 outside linebacker, and #115 overall. Though he has played the last couple seasons in Florida, he’s a Maryland native. The Crystal Ball is 40% in favor of Michigan. This is his official visit.

Markquese Bell – S – Bridgeton (NJ) Bridgeton: I did a scouting report on Bell in April (LINK). He tweeted not long ago that distance is no longer a factor in his decision, which has made some people think that he’s leaning away from Rutgers and perhaps toward Michigan. UPDATE: Bell is no longer planning to visit.

Kenney “K.J.” Britt – LB – Oxford (AL) Oxford: Britt is a 6’0″, 232 lb. prospect with offers from Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Florida, and Michigan, among others. He’s a 247 Composite 4-star, the #15 inside linebacker, and #317 overall. So far his Crystall Ball is 67% for Auburn and 33% for Georgia. UPDATE: Britt is no longer planning to visit.

Hit the jump for a bunch of people who are planning to visit, I swear.

2017

Tarik Black – WR – Cheshire (CT) Cheshire Academy: Black is a 6’3″, 204 lb. prospect with offers from Alabama, Michigan, Notre Dame, Stanford, and UCLA, among others. He’s a 247 Composite 4-star, the #17 wide receiver, and #131 overall. The U.S. Army All-American will be taking his official visit this weekend. Michigan held a camp at Cheshire Academy this summer, and Black is one of a few targets Michigan is heavily in the mix for right now. As of Wednesday night, the Crystal Ball is 62% in favor of the Wolverines for Black.

Corey Bolds – DT – Paramus (NJ) Catholic: Bolds is a 6’3″, 276 lb. prospect with offers from Alabama, Clemson, Michigan, and Rutgers, among others. He’s a 247 Composite 3-star, the #38 defensive tackle, and #462 overall. He’s a teammate of 2017 linebacker Drew Singleton (see below).

Carter Dunaway – TE – Bloomfield Hills (MI) Brother Rice: Dunaway is committed to Michigan (LINK).

Ja’Raymond Hall – OT – Oak Park (MI) Oak Park: Hall is committed to Michigan (LINK).

Brad Hawkins, Jr. – WR – Suffield (CT) Suffield Academy: Hawkins is a 6’1″, 202 lb. prospect who signed with Michigan in the 2016 class. He was an NCAA non-qualifier and is now headed to Suffield Academy for a prep year. He graduated from Camden (NJ) Camden, where he was a teammate with freshman defensive end Ron Johnson, Jr. Here’s Hawkins’s commitment profile from the summer of 2015 (LINK).

ADDED TO THE BOARD: 2018
Baltimore (MD) Gilman tight end Thomas Booker was offered by Michigan. He’s a 6’4″, 245 lb. prospect whose first offer came from the Wolverines, and then Maryland followed. He’s a bulky tight end who might end up on the defensive line instead. He plays for the same program that sent Stephen Spanellis and Henry Poggi to Michigan in 2016 and 2013, respectively.

Pago Pago (American Samoa) Leone linebacker Juliano Falaniko was offered by Michigan. He’s a 6’4″, 200 lb. prospect who committed to USC just over a week ago. He’s a 247 Composite 3-star, the #11 inside linebacker, and #347 overall.

Old Bridge (NJ) Old Bridge quarterback Artur Sitkowski was offered by Michigan. He’s a 6’4″, 205 lb. prospect with offers from Indiana, Maryland, and Rutgers, among others. He’s a 247 Sports 4-star, the #8 pro-style quarterback, and #223 overall. As a sophomore in 2015, he went 95/185 for 1,436 yards, 16 TDs, and 4 INTs. He’s a pocket quarterback who’s not much of a threat to run the ball.

Philadelphia (PA) Imhotep safety Isheem Young was offered by Michigan. He’s a 5’10”, 175 lb. prospect with offers from Florida State, Maryland, North Carolina, Penn State, Tennessee, and Wisconsin, among others. He’s a 247 Sports 4-star, the #4 safety, and #62 overall. Young is a hard-hitting safety who’s very good in run support and has some good speed, as well. He attends the same school as 2016 prospects Naseir Upshur (Florida State) and Johncarlo Valentin (Oklahoma).

Hit the jump for some players who went off the board and some random bits.

Here’s an early list of visitors for the 2016 spring game, which will take place on April 1. There will be lots of additions (and probably some subtractions), and I expect a good number of local recruits to visit Michigan Stadium for the event. However, local recruits are less vocal about these types of things, because they can hop in a car and drive an hour or two to the stadium, whereas players from far away have to make travel plans ahead of time. It’s shaping up to be a pretty good group so far.

2016 SIGNEES
Camaron Cheeseman
Kekoa Crawford

Brad Hawkins, Jr.
Lavert Hill
Nate Johnson
Ron Johnson, Jr.
David Long
Elysee Mbem-Bosse

2017
Jordan Anthony – LB – Bradenton (FL) IMG Academy: Anthony is a 6’0″, 220 lb. prospect with offers from Auburn, Clemson, Michigan, Ohio State, and Penn State, among others. He’s a 247 Composite 4-star, the #9 outside linebacker, and #133 overall. Anthony is now at IMG Academy with some other Michigan prospects – including Robert Hainsey – but he started off his high school career at Olney (MD) Good Counsel. He is a “maybe” for the spring game if he can arrange transportation.

Markquese Bell – WR – Bridgeton (NJ) Bridgeton: Bell is a 6’3″, 200 lb. prospect who released a top ten that includes Michigan and Rutgers, among others. He also has offers from Florida and Georgia. He’s a 247 Composite 3-star, the #30 athlete, and #364 overall.

Corey Bolds – DE – Paramus (NJ) Catholic: Bolds is a 6’3″, 260 lb. prospect with offers from Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, Michigan, Ohio State, and Rutgers, among others. He’s a 247 Composite 4-star, the #18 defensive tackle, and #305 overall. He was a teammate of 2016 signee Rashan Gary and is a current teammate of 2017 linebacker Drew Singleton (see below) and 2018 quarterback Allan Walters.

Ellis Brooks – LB – Richmond (VA) Benedictine: Brooks is a 6’2″, 240 lb. prospect with offers from Duke, Michigan, North Carolina, Notre Dame, and Virginia Tech, among others. He’s a 247 Composite 4-star, the #25 outside linebacker, and #292 overall. As a junior in 2015, he made 117 tackles, 18 tackles for loss, and 6 sacks. He is expected to stay in ACC country to play ball, but shortly after being offered by the Wolverines, he said he would visit for the spring game. That indicates he does have some serious interest in Michigan. UPDATE: Brooks committed to Duke on Thursday, so this visit may not occur.

Hit the jump for several more visitors.
