DECOMMITS

Tim Baldwin, RB (undecided): Ashburn (VA) Broad Run’s Tim Baldwin is still undecided on where he will play college football, and he has no 247 Sports crystal ball picks in, either.

Kalil Branham, WR (Kentucky): Columbus (OH) Northland wideout Branham is headed to Kentucky.

George Campbell, WR (West Virginia): Campbell announced that he was transferring out of Florida State, and the rumor was that he was headed to Penn State. However, he is now on WVU’s roster and listed as a 6’4″, 184 lb. redshirt senior.

FORMER COMMITS

George Campbell III, WR (Florida State): Campbell struggled once again with injuries, and when he was healthy, he played in seven games and ended with 4 catches for 42 yards on the year. Florida State went 5-7.

Shaun Crawford, CB (Notre Dame): Crawford missed the entire season with a torn ACL, the third ACL injury of his football career.

Messiah DeWeaver, QB (East Mississippi Community College): DeWeaver completed 181/266 passes (68%) for 1,735 yards, 10 touchdowns, and 4 interceptions; he also ran 88 times for 110 yards (1.3 YPC) and 2 touchdowns. EMCC went 12-0 and won the NJCAA national championship. At the time of this 247 Sports article, he had scholarship offers to play for Akron, Bowling Green, Central Michigan, Louisiana-Lafayette, Ole Dominion, Southern Mississippi, and Toledo; he just announced on Twitter a couple days ago that he would be transferring to Old Dominion.

Hit the jump for a bunch of other former commits.

Recruiting Update: December 27, 2018

Daxton Hill

Thanks to Roy for the surprise Paypal donation yesterday! It is very much appreciated.

If you got a gift card from Amazon or just buy things from Amazon on the regular, please consider helping out the site by making your purchases through the links (LINK) or banners here at TTB:

COMMITMENTS

Daxton Hill – S – Tulsa (OK) Booker T. Washington: Hill re-committed to Michigan (LINK).

Cornelius Johnson – WR – Greenwich (CT) Brunswick: Johnson committed to Michigan (LINK).

OFF THE BOARD

Noah Cain – RB – Bradenton (FL) IMG Academy: Cain committed to Penn State. Michigan was working really hard on him early, and for some reason backed off as the process wore on.

Quavaris Crouch – LB – Charlotte (NC) Harding: Crouch somewhat inexplicably picked the Tennessee Volunteers. With a top three including Clemson, Michigan, and Tennessee, most people thought he would pick Clemson. Except he then supposedly eliminated them in the last week or two, taking a final-weekend visit to Tennessee. Michigan seemed to be running #3, but Tennessee . . . I mean . . . Tennessee?

Hit the jump for several more developments since the early signing period began.

Eric Gray, Ex-Wolverine

Memphis (TN) Lausanne RB Eric Gray

Memphis (TN) Lausanne running back Eric Gray decommitted from Michigan on Saturday. Gray committed to Michigan in early July, but his commitment has been viewed as being “soft” for a couple months. I had originally given him a TTB Rating of 82 (LINK). He’s a 4-star, the #3 all-purpose back, and #209 overall.

Gray’s commitment over the summer meant that he never visited Michigan for the atmosphere in Ann Arbor on game days. He had set up a visit a couple weeks ago, but he chose to visit Tennessee instead. While he had not been expected to sign with Michigan prior to that, the lack of a game visit against Indiana seemed to cement Michigan as an also-ran.

Michigan now has just one running back in the 2019 class, Zach Charbonnet. Michigan recently landed a commitment from Amauri Pesek-Hickson, who’s a running back/linebacker, and they have offered Florida running back D.J. Williams, an Appalachian State commit. Pesek-Hickson is expected to play linebacker in college, and Williams is probably going to stay somewhere in the south. With only three weekends remaining (including this one) for official visits, the Wolverines might be scrambling to get someone on campus before the early signing window.
