2020 Recruiting Update: December 10, 2018

Now that it’s (basically) the off-season once again, I can catch up on the ridiculous number of developments that have taken place over the last couple months in recruiting. Last week I did an update on the 2021 class (LINK), and here’s the 2020 edition.

COMMITMENTS

Nick Patterson – TE – San Antonio (TX) Christian: Patterson committed to Michigan (LINK).

DECOMMITMENTS

Tim Baldwin, Jr. – RB – Ashburn (VA) Stone Bridge: Baldwin decommitted from Michigan (LINK).

Denver Warren – DT – Aurora (IL) West: Warren decommitted from Michigan (LINK).

ADDED TO THE BOARD: 2020

Sam Adams II – RB – Sammamish (WA) Eastside Catholic: Adams is a 6’2″, 200-pounder who’s the son of former mammoth Texas A&M and NFL defensive tackle Sam Adams. Adams II has offers from Ohio State, Texas A&M, and Washington, and he’s a 3-star, the #28 running back, and #341 overall in the country.

Maliq Carr – TE – Oak Park (MI) Oak Park: Carr is a 6’6″, 215 lb. prospect with offers from Notre Dame, Ohio State, and Penn State, among others. He’s a 3-star, the #95 wide receiver, and #524 overall. While he’s listed as a wideout, Michigan is recruiting him to play the tight end position, which makes sense for a guy who’s already 6’6″, 215 as a junior. He claims a 4.72 forty. As a junior in 2018, he caught 21 passes for 815 yards and 9 touchdowns, meaning he was averaging almost 40 yards per catch.

Lejond Cavazos – CB – Bradenton (FL) IMG Academy: Cavazos, originally from Texas, decommitted from Ohio State in the wake of Urban Meyer “retiring” and Ryan Day being named the new head coach. He’s a 6’0″, 186-pounder with offers from Alabama, Florida, Georgia, LSU, and USC, along with many others. He’s a 4-star, the #16 cornerback, and #183 overall.

ADDED TO THE BOARD: 2020

Fort Valley (GA) Peach County defensive end Sergio Allen was offered by Michigan. He’s a 6’2″, 220 lb. prospect with offers from Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, and Georgia Tech, among others. He’s a 247 Sports 4-star, the #7 weakside end, and #90 overall in the 2020 class.

St. Louis (MO) Trinity running back Mookie Cooper was offered by Michigan. He’s a 5’9″, 178 lb. prospect with offers from Auburn, Missouri, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Penn State, and Texas, among others. He runs an 11.1 in the 100 meters. He visited Michigan for the Ohio State game a month ago, which is when he picked up the offer from the Wolverines.

Charlotte (NC) Providence defensive end Jacolbe Cowan was offered by Michigan. He’s a 6’5″, 250 lb. prospect with offers from Alabama, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Notre Dame, and Penn State, among others. He’s a 247 Sports 4-star, the #2 strongside end, and #7 overall. As a sophomore in 2017, he made 37 tackles and 11 sacks.

2020 Recruiting Update: November 8, 2017

Here’s a post that has been sitting here as a draft for a few weeks, with a couple more recent updates.

ADDED TO THE BOARD: 2020

Baltimore (MD) St. Frances defensive end Chris Braswell was offered by Michigan. He’s a 6’3″, 211 lb. prospect with offers from Maryland, Navy, and Syracuse. He plays for Biff Poggi, father of Henry, at St. Frances.

New Caney (TX) New Caney cornerback Dwight McGlothern was offered by Michigan. He’s a 6’1″, 161 lb. prospect with offers from Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Ohio State, and Oregon, among others. He had 30 tackles, 4 interceptions, and 12 pass breakups as a freshman on varsity in 2016.

Baltimore (MD) St. Frances running back Osman Savage was offered by Michigan. He’s a 6’2″, 225 lb. jumbo running back with offers from Maryland and Syracuse. He’s a teammate of Braswell (see above). Savage could also end up at linebacker.

Franklin (TN) Franklin offensive tackle Jake Wray was offered by Michigan. He’s a 6’5″, 290 lb. prospect with offers from Alabama, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Notre Dame, Ohio State, and Tennessee, among others. He’s a 247 Sports 4-star, the #10 offensive tackle, and #98 overall. He visited Michigan for the game against Minnesota last weekend.

OFF THE BOARD

Aledo (TX) Aledo running back Jase McClellan committed to Oklahoma. McClellan goes to Aledo, which produced Michigan freshman lineman Chuck Filiaga, but it’s always tough for Michigan to get guys from the Longhorn State.
