COMMITMENT

Leesburg (GA) Lee County defensive tackle Aubrey Solomon committed to Michigan (LINK).

ADDED TO THE BOARD: 2017

Peculiar (MO) Raymore-Peculiar defensive end Anthony Payne was offered by Michigan. He’s a 6’3″, 250 lb. prospect with offers from Arkansas State, a few MAC schools, Tulane, and the like. He’s a 247 Sports 3-star, the #27 strongside end, and #697 overall. He worked out at Michigan’s satellite camp in Missouri, and the coaches liked what they saw. I can’t really blame them too much if his reported measurables are accurate: a 4.67 forty, a 405 lb. bench, a 635 lb. squat, and a 39″ vertical. However, his film isn’t anything special, and he looks like a guy who could get swallowed up by offensive tackles.

Darien (CT) Darien offensive tackle Andrew Stueber was offered by Michigan. He’s a 6’6″, 285 lb. prospect with offers from Duke, Maryland, North Carolina, Pitt, Rutgers, and Tennessee, among others. He’s a 247 Composite 3-star, the #80 offensive tackle, and #774 overall. The nice thing about recruiting the New England area is that there’s not a strong pull to remain in the geographical area, since there aren’t any noteworthy programs there. On the flip side, one reason for the lack of noteworthy programs is a lack of talent (and competition for the talent that is there). Stueber’s film is fun to watch if you like to see an FBS-caliber tackle beating up on overmatched defenders, but he’s somewhat limited athletically and stands up too high.

Hit the jump for several commitments elsewhere, along with some random tidbits.

2017 Recruiting Update: May 25, 2016

Robert Porcher 956x

This has nothing to do with 2017 recruiting, but I finalized the TTB Ratings for the 2016 class on Monday (LINK).

ADDED TO THE BOARD: 2017
Grenada (MS) Grenada safety C.J. Avery was offered by Michigan. Avery is a 6’1″, 198 lb. prospect with offers from Alabama, Notre Dame, Ole Miss, and Stanford, among others. He’s a 247 Composite 4-star, the #19 safety, and #198 overall. As a junior in 2015, he made 76 tackles, 5 INTs, and 1 fumble return for a TD. He’s an aggressive safety who high-points the ball well and is a pretty vicious hitter.

Richmond (VA) Benedictine linebacker Ellis Brooks decommitted from Duke. He’s a 6’2″, 233 lb. prospect with offers from North Carolina, Notre Dame, Pitt, and South Carolina, among others. He’s a 247 Composite 4-star, the #16 outside linebacker, and #230 overall. Duke doesn’t typically recruit well, so Brooks was their top commit in 2017; he was also a teammate of the Blue Devils’ highest rated signee in 2016, wide receiver Scott Bracey.

Orlando (FL) Dr. Phillips defensive end Robert Porcher IV was offered by Michigan. He’s a 6’3″, 245 lb. prospect with offers from Arizona, Arizona State, Mississippi State, USC, and Virginia Tech, among others. He’s a 247 Composite 3-star, the #58 weakside end, and #1334 overall. As a junior in 2015, he made 92 tackles, 32 TFLs, and 11 sacks. He’s the son of former Detroit Lions defensive end Robert Porcher, and he attends a school that Michigan recruited pretty heavily during the Rich Rodriguez era (Demetrius Hart, Ricardo Miller, etc.). Despite a high level of productivity, Porcher does not seem to be a standout athletically, and I think he’s pretty accurately ranked as a so-so 3-star.

Defensive Recruiting Update: March 8, 2016

Dylan Moses 800x

Bradenton (FL) IMG Academy linebacker Dylan Moses

If you’re looking for updates on offensive players, check out yesterday’s post (LINK).

ADDED TO THE BOARD: 2017
Pittsburgh (PA) Central Catholic linebacker David Adams was offered by Michigan. He’s a 6’1″, 215 lb. prospect with offers from LSU, Notre Dame, Penn State, Pitt, and Stanford, among others. He’s a 247 Composite 4-star, the #4 inside linebacker, and #105 overall. Adams is a true middle linebacker who’s a solid tackler with some pretty good straight-line speed. The offer from the Wolverines did not seem to move the needle much. He’s a teammate of 2017 offensive guard C.J. Thorpe.

Norcross (GA) Norcross defensive end Robert Beal decommitted from Notre Dame. He’s a 6’4″, 230 lb. prospect who now has a top group of Alabama, Florida State, North Carolina State, South Carolina, and Texas. He’s a 247 Composite 4-star, the #3 weakside end, and #42 overall. Michigan does not really seem to be a factor.

Oxford (AL) Oxford linebacker Kenney “K.J.” Britt was offered by Michigan. He’s a 6’1″, 217 lb. prospect with offers from Alabama, Auburn, and Ole Miss, among others. He’s a 247 Composite 3-star, the #23 inside linebacker, and #668 overall. As a junior in 2015, he made 126 tackles, 22 TFLs, 5 forced fumbles, and 2 fumble recoveries, 1 of which he returned for a TD.

Oklahoma City (OK) John Marshall cornerback Justin Broiles was offered by Michigan. He’s a 6’0″, 175 lb. prospect with offers from Auburn, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Ole Miss, Oregon, Texas, and Texas A&M, among others. He’s a 247 Composite 4-star, the #21 cornerback, and #194 overall. Broiles is very physical and a strong tackler from the cornerback position, but he does not have the best ball skills. He is expected to stay in Big 12 country.

Hit the jump for many more 2017 offers, a new 2019 offer, and some other bits.
