Smith is going to be a very good runner for us. It's the first TTB rating I STRONGLY disagree with. I think he and Green may split carries evenly.

not really sure about Smith > Green arguments. What are you basing your argument on?

Never said Smith > Green. I'll give you the reasons I like Smith though.

Smith has good speed. Not exceptional, but good enough to get into the second level. Smith has good power. Not exceptional, but good enough where arm tackles will not stop him. Smith has exceptional balance. Watching his high school highlight tape, and even moments last year, Smith's balance is insanely good. If you don't wrap him up with great technique, he's getting several more yards or breaking loose.

Criticisms regarding Green: he doesn't show the kind of power you want to see in a running back his size. His speed is slightly better than Smith, but even in his high school tape, he couldn't truck stick defenders at the high school level. Was expecting a bit more from the #1RB recruit known for power running.

In their limited carries last year Smith averaged about 6 ypc, and Green averaged about 3.5. That could be one tangible thing to look at.

I don't think Smith has good speed, but oh well.

I believe the actual statistics were 5.2 yards/carry for Smith and 3.3 yards/carry for Green, but that's off the top of my head.

I like both these young men … and I don't just mean as productive running backs. Both seem like fine young men, focused on doing their best for Michigan. Bravo to both of them.

Yeah. I still have hope that they can pan out well. Hopely Nuss will bring out the best in them.
