2017 Scholarship Count

Patrick Kugler (#57)

Players are listed in order of remaining eligibility. With 82 scholarships allotted, Michigan is below its scholarship limit and handed out 3 scholarships to walk-ons. As for the 2018 recruiting class, 8 seniors are scheduled to graduate, while Nate Johnson, Drake Harris, and Wilton Speight will be coming off the tally in 2018, so the class should have at least 14 players.

Former Michigan Athlete of the Week: Devin Funchess

Carolina Panthers wide receiver Devin Funchess caught 7 passes for 70 yards and 2 touchdowns in a 33-30 win over the New England Patriots. It’s a career-high in both catches and touchdowns for Funchess.

HONORABLE MENTION

  • Patriots quarterback Tom Brady completed 32/45 passes for 307 yards and 2 touchdowns. He has now thrown 10 touchdowns and 0 interceptions this year.
  • Dallas Cowboys defensive end Taco Charlton made 1 assisted tackle in a 35-20 loss to the Los Angeles Rams
  • Seattle Seahawks defensive end Frank Clark made 4 tackles in a 46-18 victory over the Indianapolis Colts
  • Seahawks wide receiver Amara Darboh made 2 catches for 10 yards in the 46-18 win over the Colts
  • Baltimore Ravens defensive tackle Willie Henry made 1 tackle and 2 pass breakups in a 26-9 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers
  • Seahawks safety Delano Hill made 2 tackles in the 46-18 win over the Colts
  • Dallas Cowboys cornerback Jourdan Lewis made 3 tackles in a 35-20 loss to the Los Angeles Rams

Visitors: Michigan vs. Michigan State

Bryan Addison – S – Gardena (CA) Junipero Serra: Addison is a 6’4″, 180 lb. prospect with offers from Arizona State, Michigan, Nebraska, UCLA, and USC, among others. He’s a 4-star, the #2 athlete, and #83 overall. Addison was supposed to make it to Ann Arbor for the BBQ at the Big House but was unable to make the trip, so this will be his first visit. It will be his second official after he already took one to Nebraska.

Kevin Doyle – QB – Washington (DC) St. John’s: Doyle committed to Michigan recently (LINK). This is his official visit.

Gemon Green – CB – DeSoto (TX) DeSoto: Green is committed t0 Michigan (LINK). This is his official visit.

German Green – CB – DeSoto (TX) DeSoto: German Green is also committed to Michigan (LINK). This is his official visit.

MLive: Speight out for “multiple weeks”

Jim Harbaugh announced that Wilton Speight will be out for multiple weeks (LINK). Word is that he has a broken vertebra and will be out for the rest of the season. This came after a Purdue defensive lineman jumped on Speight’s head/neck area as he was going down to the ground. Purdue’s coach thought it was a clean hit.

Ex-Wolverine Updates: 2017, Week 5

TRANSFERS

Ross Douglas, LB (Rutgers): Douglas made 2 tackles and 1 pass breakup in a 56-0 blowout loss to Ohio State. Rutgers is 1-4.

Shane Morris, QB (CMU): Morris was 21/42 for 171 yards, 0 touchdowns, and 3 interceptions in a 28-8 loss to Boston College. He now has 9 touchdowns and 8 interceptions on the year.

Keith Washington, CB (Copiah-Lincoln C.C.): Washington made 3 tackles and 1 pass breakup in a 35-10 loss to Jones Community College in week four. No stats are available for week five yet.
