Grand Rapids (MI) West Catholic defensive end Carl Myers committed to Michigan as a preferred walk-on. Myers is a 6’3″, 270 lb. prospect who chose the walk-on route over a scholarship offer at Air Force.

Myers is a bit sawed-off as a defensive end and does not have great length. He would have a tough time disengaging from college linemen. In some ways, he is reminiscent of current Michigan fullback/nose tackle Brady Pallante, although Pallante was quicker coming out of high school. Myers is a solid tackler and stout against small offensive linemen, but his frame does not look like it can add a ton of weight. I think there’s a possibility that Michigan tries to use him as a blocking fullback/H-back in the manner of Henry Poggi.
Myers joins Kentucky TE Dane Drobocky, Pennsylvania QB Michael Shuster, and Michigan TE Simeon Smith as preferred walk-ons for 2016.
