ADDED TO THE BOARD: 2016
Durham (NC) Hillside running back Abdul Adams was offered by Michigan. He’s a 5’11”, 205 lb. prospect with offers from Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Maryland, Notre Dame, and Oklahoma, among others. He’s a 247 Composite 3-star, the #26 running back, and #477 overall. He was previously committed to Michigan State, and the Wolverines stepped forward with an offer shortly after he decommitted. He’s a speedy back with some shiftiness, patience, and good vision. As a junior in 2014, he had 180 carries for 1,499 yards (8.3 yards/carry) and 11 touchdowns, plus 16 catches for 197 yards and 5 touchdowns. Michigan is a potential destination, although there may be some barriers in the way. Adams could also play slot receiver, cornerback, or safety at the next level.
Saraland (AL) Saraland wide receiver Velus Jones, Jr., a USC commit, was offered by Michigan. He’s a 5’11”, 180 lb. prospect with offers from Florida, Oklahoma, and UCLA, among others. He’s a 247 Composite 3-star, the #69 wide receiver, and #417 overall. He claims a 4.36 forty. Michigan has tried to make inroads in Alabama, and USC is in a precarious position with an uncertain coaching situation for next year after Steve Sarkisian was fired. Jones is a speedster, and Michigan needs an influx of speed and playmaking ability.
Hit the jump for a new 2017 offer and some random bits.
ADDED TO THE BOARD: 2017
Bullard (TX) Bullard tight end Major Tennison, a Texas commit, was offered by Michigan. He’s a 6’6″, 240 lb. prospect with offers from Oklahoma State and Texas Tech, among others. He’s a 247 Composite 3-star, the #16 tight end, and #477 overall. As a sophomore in 2014, he caught 20 passes for 379 yards and 5 touchdowns. In a similar situation to Jones, there’s a good chance that Texas head coach Charlie Strong gets fired at some point before 2016, so a coaching change could open some doors for Michigan and other teams.
MISCELLANEOUS
Mesquite (TX) North Mesquite offensive tackle Jean Delance is announcing his decision on January 2, 2016, at the Under Armour All-American Game. Michigan and Texas are two of his top choices.
Southfield (MI) Southfield running back Matt Falcon officially decommitted from Michigan (LINK). By that point, Falcon did not have a football scholarship offer from the Wolverines and was sitting on a decision whether to take a medical scholarship to go to Michigan as a student, or to go elsewhere as a football player. Several other schools have still been pursuing him after his third ACL injury, so he wants to go play football.
Michigan picked up a preferred walk-on commit in the form of Grand Rapids (MI) West Catholic defensive end Carl Myers (LINK).

I like Velus Jones a lot. I’d give him the “burner” designation. I might even ramp him up to “true burner”.
