6-27-17 Recruiting Update: Let’s pretend you care about 2020

ADDED TO THE BOARD: 2020

Corona (CA) Corona tight end Jaden Navarrette was offered by Michigan. He’s a 6’3″, 190 lb. prospect with offers from Arizona State, Colorado, Oregon, UCLA, and USC. It’s tough to say how a 6’3″, 190 lb. rising sophomore will fill out in the next few years, but some places project him as a wide receiver . . . and I think he will outgrow that spot. I’m saying tight end, but maybe linebacker or even defensive end.

Ellenwood (GA) Cedar Grove linebacker Isaiah Ratcliff was offered by Michigan. He’s 6’0″, 195 lbs. and his only other offer comes from Charlotte. He plays at the alma mater of Michigan linebacker Elysee Mbem-Bosse.

Athens (GA) Athens running back Len’Neth Whitehead was offered by Michigan. He’s 6’2″ and 232 lbs., so it’s very possible that he will outgrow the running back position. You can watch him run over a bunch of toddlers here:

OFF THE BOARD

Ocala (FL) Vanguard wide receiver Leonard Manuel committed to Tennessee, whatever that means three years in advance.

2017 Aerial Assault QB Camp Participants

J.T. Daniels (image via SoCal Sidelines)

There will be a lot of campers descending on Ann Arbor for the Aerial Assault QB Camp on June 17, 2017. I have heard that some non-quarterbacks are attending the camp, so I’m not sure if they’ll be receiving targets or if they’re just visiting campus during that time. Regardless, I’ll list here some of the notable prospects attending the camp:

2018

  • West Bloomfield (MI) West Bloomfield QB Bryce Veasley (Bowling Green State)

2019

  • Santa Ana (CA) Mater Dei QB J.T. Daniels (Update: Daniels was unable to make it to Ann Arbor.)
  • Houston (TX) St. Pius X QB Grant Gunnell (Texas A&M)
  • Detroit (MI) Cass Tech QB Noah Stamps-Freeman

2020

  • Marietta (GA) Marietta QB Harrison Bailey (Update: Bailey also was unable to make it to town.)

2021

Players with a Michigan offer are in bold.

TRANSFER

Sunny Odogwu – OT – Miami-FL: Odogwu is a 6’8″, 325 lb. tackle who’s leaving the Miami Hurricanes. He will be a fifth year senior in the fall, so he’s eligible to play immediately as a grad transfer. He started 14 games during his career, but he suffered a torn MCL in 2015 and a broken leg in 2016, the latter of which caused him to miss the final eight games of the year. A Nigerian immigrant, he attended Baltimore (MD) St. Frances and Hargrave Military Academy before enrolling at Miami in 2013.

2018

James Ohonba – OG – Stockbridge (GA) Woodland: Ohonba is a 6’5″, 320 lb. prospect with offers from Alabama, LSU, Michigan, and USC, which make up his top four. He’s a 4-star, the #23 offensive tackle, and #306 overall.

2019

Chris Hinton, Jr. – DE – Norcross (GA) Greater Atlanta Christian: Hinton is a 6’4″, 265 lb. prospect with offers from Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Michigan, Notre Dame, Stanford, and USC, among others. He’s a 247 Sports 4-star, the #2 strongside end, and #14 overall. He was originally being looked at as an offensive lineman, but now he wants to play defensive line. He looks like an offensive guard to me and lacks great defensive instincts, but he has a couple years to improve before hitting college. He’s the son of Chris Hinton – hence the name – who played at Northwestern before an NFL career with the Falcons and Colts.

COMMITMENT

Traverse City (MI) West offensvie tackle Ryan Hayes committed to Michigan (LINK).

ADDED TO THE BOARD: 2020

Ft. Lauderdale (FL) St. Thomas Aquinas defensive tackle Marcus Dumervil was offered by Michigan. He’s a 6’5″, 260-pounder with offers from East Carolina and Illinois. He has pretty good technique for a freshman and uses his hands well.

Ocala (FL) Vanguard offensive guard Miller Lewis was offered by Michigan. He’s a 6’3″, 298 lb. prospect with offers from Florida, Georgia, Miami, and USC, among others. Unless he hits a growth spurt, I imagine he’ll be an offensive guard or a center in college.

Hit the jump for a couple more new offers.

5-22-17 Recruiting Update: Tarquin’s Ravishing Strides

ADDED TO THE BOARD: 2019

Miami (FL) Northwestern linebacker Samuel Brooks, Jr. was offered by Michigan. Brooks is a 6’2″, 195 lb. prospect with offers from Kentucky, Louisville, and South Florida, among others. He plays with his hand down at times and is more of a pass rusher, so it will be interesting to see how his body develops and how he’ll be able to be used.

Montvale (NJ) St. Joseph defensive end Howard Cross III was offered by Michigan. Cross is a 6’2″, 240 lb. prospect with offers from Maryland, North Carolina State, and Rutgers, among others. He’s the son of former Alabama and New York Giants tight end Howard Cross.

Destrehan (LA) Destrehan running back John Emery, Jr. was offered by Michigan. He’s a 6’0″, 194 lb. prospect with offers from Arkansas, Auburn, Georgia, and LSU, among others. He’s a 247 Sports 4-star, the #7 running back, and #90 overall.

Hit the jump for a bunch more 2019 offers, a couple 2020 offers, and some other bits.
