Cade McNamara > Joe Milton. Redshirt sophomore Cade McNamara had a game that Joe Milton could only dream of, and that included completing 9/11 passes for 136 yards, 2 touchdowns, and 0 interceptions. It doesn’t matter if you can throw a ball 80 yards if you don’t know where the ball is going. McNamara has the ability to recognize matchups and read defenses, and those skills trump Howitzers for arms. His best two passes of the day were beautiful deep balls to . . .
Ronnie Bell. Bell made a great one-handed catch on the sideline (nullified by a very questionable offensive pass interference call) and a great 76-yard catch-and-run touchdown. That at the end of an exciting 31-yard punt return, he seemed to slump to the ground when getting tackled and was swarmed by medical personnel. When he left the field, he had to be carried and his right leg was just dangling. My fear is that he tore his ACL while making a cut at the end of the run. Bell is a captain, led the team in receiving the past two years, and was bound to lead the team in that category once again in 2021. After losing Aidan Hutchinson, Kwity Paye, and Jalen Mayfield to injury in 2020, it’s frustrating that Michigan couldn’t avoid a serious injury even one game into the season against a MAC opponent.
Jordan Anthony, LB (transfer portal): Anthony has been in the transfer portal for over a year. He last played for Michigan in 2019.
Tarik Black, WR (Texas): Black caught 10 passes for 240 yards and 1 touchdown in 2020. He is returning to Texas for his fifth year of college eligibility.
Zach Carpenter, C (Indiana): Carpenter is listed as a 6’5″, 320 lb. lineman for Indiana. He transferred immediately after the 2020 season.
Zach Charbonnet, RB (UCLA): Charbonnet ran 19 times for 124 yards and 1 touchdown for Michigan in 2020 and signed with the Bruins as a transfer.
Kekoa Crawford, WR (Cal): Crawford is listed as a 6’1″, 195 lb. sixth-year senior for the Golden Bears. He caught 19 passes for 232 yards and 2 touchdowns in 2020.
Devin Gil, LB (South Florida): Gil opted out of the 2020 season and is transferring, though a destination has not yet been announced.
Ja’Raymond Hall, OT (CMU): Hall is retired after having some injury issues.
Michigan quarterback Joe Milton is no longer Michigan quarterback Joe Milton. He has chosen to enter the transfer portal.
Milton was a class of 2018 recruit ranked as a 247 Composite 4-star, the #9 pro-style quarterback, and #204 overall. I gave him a TTB Rating of 88 (LINK).
It’s time for unbridled speculation, because this is sadly a rather dull time to be a Michigan fan, what with all the bad football and lack of football we’re seeing. Keep in mind that this information is purely speculative.
So what kind of attrition are we likely to see going into the 2021 season?
