Michigan 39, Indiana 14

IT’S A TRAP! I was expecting a relatively close battle (I predicted 28-17 Michigan), and the great and powerful Lee Corso predicted an Indiana victory. But it turns out Michigan had other ideas this year. After a slow start on defense, the Wolverines defense put the clamps on Indiana. Michigan was down 14-7 at one point and then scored 32 unanswered points the rest of the way. Indiana’s secondary was severely outmatched in this one, and Michigan took advantage to the tune of 366 passing yards and 5 touchdowns through the air.

Michigan vs. Iowa Awards

Let’s see more of this guy on offense . . . Tru Wilson. Wilson had 4 carries for 28 yards in a little bit of action on Saturday. One reason he has not played much so far this year is because of a broken hand he suffered in camp. Another reason is that freshman Zach Charbonnet has shown promise, but Charbonnet has some vision issues and hasn’t developed the patience required.

Enjoy Michigan football. I’ve seen a lot of complaints about Michigan’s offense, which we will indeed discuss. But those complaints are probably coming from a lot of the same people who have said Jim Harbaugh can’t win big games against tough opponents. Iowa was 4-0 and ranked #14 coming to Ann Arbor. It wasn’t a pretty win, but it counts the same in the Big Ten standings as a win over Ohio State or Rutgers.

Michigan 52, Rutgers 0

You can’t ask for much more. The last time Michigan scored at least 52 points, it was just over a year ago in a 56-10 win over Nebraska in year one of the Scott Frost era. The Wolverines needed to put together a complete game in all three phases of the game, and they did so. There were a few mistakes – as there always will be – but the offense was efficient, the defense put up a shutout, and special teams created a fumble while also finally getting a decent punt returner involved once again in Donovan Peoples-Jones. It was a good old-fashioned romp.
