Rashan Gary

2016
Devin Asiasi – TE – Concord (CA) De La Salle:
Asiasi is a 6’3″, 270 lb. prospect with offers from Alabama, Michigan, UCLA, USC, and Washington, among others. He’s a 247 Composite 4-star, the #2 athlete, and #50 overall. He had a touchdown catch in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl a couple Sundays ago. Michigan has been recruiting him as a tight end since shortly after Jim Harbaugh arrived in Ann Arbor, but he could also play on the defensive line. This is his official visit to Ann Arbor.

Joel Dublanko – LB – Bradenton (FL) IMG Academy: Dublanko is a 6’3″, 227 lb. prospect with offers from Akron, Mississippi State, and Tennessee, among others. He’s a 247 Composite 3-star, the #12 inside linebacker, and #359 overall. He does not have an offer from Michigan at this time, but since the Wolverines are in a questionable situation when it comes to linebacker depth, he could be in line for one. Originally from the state of Washington, Dublanko is now a teammate of 2016 tight end Isaac Nauta (Georgia).

Conner Edmonds – TE – Germantown (WI) Germantown: Edmonds is a 6’5″, 240 lb. prospect with no FBS offers at this point. As a sophomore in 2015, he caught 10 passes for 178 yards and 3 touchdowns.

Jordan Fuller – S – Old Tappan (NJ) Old Tappan: Fuller is a 6’1″, 196 lb. prospect with offers from Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Penn State, and Rutgers, among others. He’s a 247 Composite 4-star, the #6 athlete, and #130 overall. Also a U.S. Army Bowl participant, Fuller played corner in that game and could play a number of positions in college – safety, corner, or receiver. His older brother Devin just finished his senior year as a receiver at UCLA. This is Jordan’s official visit.

Hit the jump for several more official and unofficial visitors.

Rashan Gary – DT – Paramus (NJ) Catholic: Gary is a 6’5″, 293 lb. prospect who’s considering Alabama, Auburn, LSU, Ohio State, Ole Miss, and USC, among others. He’s the 247 Composite #1 player in the country. Gary already took his official visit to Michigan in the fall, so this is an unofficial visit. Most prognosticators have him coming to Michigan, where his former high school coach, Chris Partridge, is now the linebackers/special teams coach. However, he had a good visit to USC, and Ole Miss has gained some momentum recently.

Lavert Hill – CB – Detroit (MI) King: Hill is a 5’10”, 172 lb. prospect with offers from Clemson, Miami, Michigan, Michigan State, Penn State, Tennessee, and Texas, among others. He’s a 247 Composite 4-star, the #12 cornerback, and #135 overall. He played in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl a couple weekends ago. He took an official visit to Michigan State this weekend but stopped in Ann Arbor on his way home.

Daniel Jokisch – TE – Orchard Lake (MI) St. Mary’s: Jokisch is a 6’6″, 240 lb. tight end/defensive end/defensive tackle who has been offered a preferred walk-on spot at Michigan.

Elysee Mbem-Bosse – LB – Ellenwood (GA) Cedar Grove: Mbem-Bosse is a 6’3″, 232 lb. prospect who has taken official visits to North Carolina State, Oregon State, and Oklahoma. He’s a 247 Composite 3-star, the #17 inside linebacker, and #482 overall. Michigan is trying to reel in at least one more inside linebacker prospect before National Signing Day. Mbem-Bosse has had his Michigan offer for a while, but the Wolverines have not appeared to be a strong possibility until now, maybe. This is his official visit.

Eddie McDoom – WR – Winter Garden (FL) Orange Park: McDoom is a 5’11”, 170 lb. prospect who recently decommitted from Oregon; he also has offers from Clemson, Florida, Michigan, and Oklahoma, among others. He’s a 247 Composite 3-star, the #67 wide receiver, and #405 overall. After decommitting from the Ducks, he said that Michigan was his #1 school and that he would commit to the Wolverines if he likes the visit.

Connor Murphy – DE – Phoenix (AZ) Brophy Prep: Murphy is a 6’7″, 250 lb. prospect with offers from Arizona State, Michigan, Oregon, Stanford, and USC, among others. He’s a 247 Composite 4-star, the #16 weakside end, and #245 overall. Murphy’s older brother Trent played for Jim Harbaugh at Stanford and is now in the NFL; there are stories about Harbaugh even babysitting Connor when he was younger.

Donald Stewart – WR – Paramus (NJ) Catholic: Stewart is a 6’3″, 190 lb. prospect who has taken official visits to Boston College, Auburn, and Stanford. He’s a 247 Composite 3-star, the #105 wide receiver, and #683 overall. Also a former player of Partridge’s, Stewart was thought to be a Michigan lean early in the process, though he was always interested in Stanford. The Cardinal have 79% of the Crystal Ball picks as of this writing on Sunday night, and Michigan has the other 21%.

Boss Tagaloa – DT – Concord (CA) De La Salle: Tagaloa is a 6’3″, 295 lb. prospect with offers from Alabama, Michigan, UCLA, USC, and Washington, among others. He’s a 247 Composite 4-star, the #14 defensive tackle, and #105 overall. A teammate of Asiasi’s, Michigan talked early on about Tagaloa playing both ways at center and defensive tackle, although he is now being looked at as a defensive tackle. This is his official visit.

Joshua Uche – DE – Miami (FL) Columbus: Uche is a 6’2″, 212 lb. prospect who took an official to Auburn last weekend and has one scheduled for Florida at the end of the month. He’s a 247 Composite 3-star, the #45 weakside end, and #705 overall. A relatively recent offer since new defensive coordinator Don Brown was hired, Uche is a teammate of two 2017 prospects who have also picked up offers: cornerback Trajan Bandy and defensive end Guy Thomas. This is Uche’s official visit.

Terrell Vassel – CB – Wayne (NJ) DePaul Catholic: Vassel is a 6’1″, 190 lb. prospect with offers from Rutgers, Syracuse, and Temple, among others. He’s a 247 Composite 3-star, the #104 cornerback, and #1176 overall. Vassel was a high school teammate of Michigan early enrollee Kareem Walker, defensive end Quayshon Alexander (Nebraska), and offensive tackle Thiyo Lukusa (Michigan State). Vassel does not have a Michigan offer, but he may be a backup plan down the stretch if other options fall through. This is an official visit.

2017
Antjuan Simmons – LB – Ann Arbor (MI) Pioneer:
Simmons is a 6’1″, 205 lb. prospect with offers from Arizona State, Georgia, LSU, Miami, Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State, and UCLA, among others. He’s a 247 Composite 3-star, the #24 outside linebacker, and #357 overall. He released a top eleven last week that did not include Michigan, which was perhaps partly due to Michigan delaying a bit in offering him. Michigan will have chances to make up ground and get back in the top group, but they’re playing from behind. UPDATE: Simmons is no longer planning to visit.

Drew Singleton – LB – Paramus (NJ) Catholic: Singleton is a 6’2″, 215 lb. prospect with offers from Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, LSU, Michigan, and Ohio State, among others. He’s a 247 Composite 4-star, the #10 outside linebacker, and #152 overall. Michigan has been considered the leader for most of his recruitment so far, and 100% of the Crystal Ball choices are in favor of the Wolverines. Singleton is a teammate of both Gary and Stewart.

Thunder, thank you for the updates! Really appreciate it. Got a couple of questions… Besides the obvious Rashan Gary, who do you rate the highest among the visitors this weekend? Besides McDoom, who do you reckon have the highest chance of ending up in this class?

      1. I really like Jordan Fuller and Josh Uche. I wasn’t that high on Fuller based on the earlier highlights I saw of him, but I’m impressed with the more recent film I’ve seen on him. And Uche is a kid with some speed that I think could be a dangerous pass rusher.

      2. I have a bit of a hard time seeing Connor Murphy saying no to Jim Harbaugh. They just have such a long relationship that I think it would be tough for a kid to do that. Also, Rashan Gary is likely to join the class, too.

Thunder, my prediction is that Long, Gary, Murphy, McDoom, Bosse and/or Allen or Dwumfour will finish the 2016 class for Michigan. Obviously, the recruitment of Gary got more interesting, but I think that with the relationships that Gary has with Walker, Peppers and Partridge will help Michigan get Gary. Plus Gary is coming for a visit to Michigan so it helps Michigan in that regard and also have a in home visit next Wed with Gary and his family.

Everything I have heard is Fuller is ND lean. I have contact from NJ who has been in contact with his mom frequently ( his mom calls him). Great kid, great get. This weekend could turn him, but leaning toward ND. Gary however is still leaning toward M.

We’ll see. Right now 69% of the Crystal Balls are in favor of Ohio State. Zero are in favor of Notre Dame.

Are you going to write a post about your thoughts on the dropping of Erik Swenson?
Looks like he’s not being listed as a commit anymore, rumors floating around that the coaches just don’t think he’s good enough.

    Thanks.

If the simmons kid really didn’t want to include us simply because we took to long to offer when he’s still a junior I don’t care much about getting him because of that ego it’s not like he’s the second coming…..

I don’t see it that way. It’s about going where you’re wanted. Michigan had numerous opportunities to meet Simmons, and they were aware of his abilities as a recruit. In the meantime, 25-30 other schools offered from across the country, while the guys from across the street held off. If Michigan just throws out an offer because they feel like they should, then how serious are they about getting you in a uniform and getting you on the field? You have to wonder. Meanwhile, the guys who were blown away by your film and offered you immediately, maybe they want to get you on campus and get you on the field immediately. It’s only natural to want to go where you’re wanted.
