Visitors: Michigan vs. Oregon State

September 10, 2015

Norcross (GA) Greater Atlanta Christian quarterback Davis Mills

The Wolverines will be hosting a bunch of visitors for the home opener against Oregon State this weekend. This list will increase significantly before Saturday, but here are the names I have so far.

2016

Jonathan Brys – DE – Jackson (MI) Lumen Christi:

Landon Dickerson – OG  – Hickory (NC) Hickory:

Dickerson is a 6’5″, 293 lb. prospect with offers from Auburn, Florida State, Georgia, Michigan, and Virginia Tech, among others. He’s a 247 Composite 4-star, the #10 offensive tackle, and #71 overall. He is one of the few offensive linemen that Michigan has continued to recruit now that several linemen are committed, but he seems likely to end up elsewhere, with Virginia Tech being a strong possibility. UPDATE: Michigan asked Dickerson to reschedule his visit for after the season, but it is unlikely to get rescheduled.

Hit the jump for several more 2016 and 2017 prospects.

Matt Falcon – RB – Southfield (MI) Southfield: Falcon committed to Michigan in April (LINK). He tore his ACL during a scrimmage in August and will miss his senior season.

Kumehnnu Gwilly – RB – Utica (MI) Utica: Kumehnnu is a 6’1″, 195 lb. prospect who is committed to Central Michigan. He’s a 247 Composite 2-star, the #130 running back, and #2001 overall.

Ostell Martin – OT – Detroit (MI) Cass Tech:

Jared Mayden – CB – Sachse (TX) Sachse: Mayden is a 6’0″, 190 lb. prospect who committed to Oregon in July. He’s a 247 Composite 4-star, the #11 cornerback, and #128 overall. He is also a teammate of 2016 wide receiver Devin Duvernay and cornerback Donovan Duvernay. The Wolverines don’t have a great shot at flipping Mayden, but anything can happen when players start taking visits.

David Reese – LB – Farmington (MI) Farmington: Reese committed to Michigan in April (LINK).

Jordan Reid – OG – Detroit (MI) Cass Tech:

Eric Rogers – LB – Warren (MI) De La Salle: Rogers, the younger brother of former Michigan cornerback James Rogers, is committed to Western Michigan.

Simeon Smith – TE – Kalamazoo (MI) Loy Norrix: Smith is a 6’6″, 208 lb. prospect with no offers at this time. He plays wide receiver in high school, but with his size, he will probably be a tight end or defensive end in college.

Demetric Vance – S – Detroit (MI) Cass Tech: Vance is committed to Michigan State.

Victor Viramontes – QB – Norco (CA) Norco: Viramontes committed to Michigan back in June (LINK). So far he is having a very successful senior season (LINK). This is his official visit.

Josh Wilk – S – Warren (MI) De La Salle:

Tru Wilson – S – Warren (MI) De La Salle:

2017

Johnathan Berghorst – DE – Zeeland (MI) East: Berghorst is a 6’3″, 245 lb. prospect with offers from Illinois and Western Michigan. He’s a 247 Composite 3-star, the #25 strongside end, and #615 overall. He has been to Michigan numerous times over the past couple years.

Curtis Blackwell – OG – Ossian (IN) Norwell: Blackwell is a 6’5″, 290 lb. prospect with no offers at this time.

Richard Bowens III – CB – Orchard Lake (MI) St. Mary’s: Bowens is a 6’1″, 175 lb. prospect with offers from Cincinnati, Minnesota, and some MAC teams. He’s a teammate of 2016 offensive guard Cameron Kolwich (Northwestern), Hamler, and Ross.

Carter Dunaway – TE – Bloomfield Hills (MI) Brother Rice: Dunaway committed to Michigan this past spring.

Cameron Feguer – OT – DeWitt (MI) DeWitt: Feguer is a 6’6″, 272 lb. prospect with no offers at this time.

Rodney Hall – QB – Detroit (MI) Cass Tech:

K.J. Hamler – WR – Orchard Lake (MI) St. Mary’s: Hamler is a 5’9″, 155 lb. prospect with offers from Michigan, Michigan State, and Penn State, among others. He’s a 247 Composite 3-star, the #49 wide receiver, and #307 overall. He is thought to be leaning toward the Spartans.

Jaylen Kelly-Powell – S – Detroit (MI) Cass Tech:

Davis Mills – QB – Norcross (GA) Greater Atlanta Christian: Mills is a 6’3″, 189 lb. prospect with offers from Arizona State, Arkansas, Louisville, Michigan, Missouri, UCLA, and Virginia Tech, among others. He’s a 247 Composite 4-star, the #5 pro-style quarterback, and #88 overall. As a sophomore in 2014, he threw for 2,267 yards and 26 touchdowns. Georgia appeared to be an early favorite, but they already have a quarterback in the 2017 class named Bailey Hockman, so Stanford looks most likely right now.

Donovan Peoples-Jones – WR – Detroit (MI) Cass Tech: Peoples-Jones is arguably Michigan’s top in-state target for 2017.

Josh Ross – LB – Orchard Lake (MI) St. Mary’s: Ross is a 6’1″, 210 lb. prospect with offers from Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State, and Oklahoma, among others. He’s the younger brother of Michigan senior linebacker James Ross III. He is considered to be leaning slightly toward Notre Dame.

Allen Stritzinger – RB – Warren (MI) De La Salle: Stritzinger is a 6’0″, 180 lb. prospect with offers from Cincinnati, Michigan, and some MAC schools. He’s a 247 Composite 3-star, the #25 running back, and #325 overall. He has stated outright that Michigan is his leader.

Kurt Taylor – RB – Covington (GA) Newton: Taylor is a 5’9″, 200 lb. prospect with offers from Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, and Michigan, among others. He’s a 247 Composite 3-star, the #34 running back, and #472 overall. He visited Michigan this summer and obviously enjoyed it enough to return on his own dime. His offer list isn’t great right now, which puts the Wolverines in or near the driver’s seat so far. Taylor is also friends with Cartersville (GA) Cartersville quarterback Trevor Lawrence, the 247 Sports #1 overall prospect for 2018.

C.J. Thorpe – OT – Pittsburgh (PA) Central Catholic: Thorpe is a 6’2″, 308 lb. prospect with offers from Arizona State, Auburn, Maryland, Penn State, and Pitt, among others. He’s a 247 Composite 4-star, the #6 offensive guard, and #221 overall. Thorpe is a teammate of 2016 safety Damar Hamlin.

Nate Umlor – DE – Allendale (MI) Allendale: Umlor is a 6’6″, 245 lb. prospect with no offers at this time.

2018
Kalon Gervin – CB – Detroit (MI) Cass Tech:

DeAndre Square – LB – Detroit (MI) Cass Tech:
