Yeah, it’s kind of a mish-mash of schemes. I think that’s what you have to do to cover up for some of their athletic deficiencies, at least against other good teams. I was not impressed with the guys at Valor Christian’s skill positions.
FWIW, I’m more inclined to buy fall practice than spring practice hype. Spring practices are absent the graduated seniors and most of the incoming freshmen, so it’s a relatively small swath of guys going up against walk-ons, early enrollees, etc. You’re also missing some players who got injured during the season and haven’t recovered yet. If Evans, Bredeson, etc. are getting hype now, it’s more likely to carry over into the season.
Well, I do disagree with some of this, but I can’t say too much since I’m still counting down myself…
Pryor is a good choice. I’m glad he hasn’t found success at the next level.
I don’t know that a comedian could get away with making that comment about Clinton, let alone another presidential candidate. Even if it was tongue-in-cheek, it’s not appropriate for someone in his position to say.
1. On the sidebar, there is a widget for “Top Forum Discussions” right below “Connect with TTB” and above “Links.” That is one way to follow the board from the main page.
2. I previously had placed a separate widget on the sidebar that included individual, recent comments. I removed that widget because the board wasn’t very active, and it was just kind of taking up space. I might be inclined to install that widget once again if the board gets more active, so that’s a possibility.
3. So as not to clutter the sidebar, I think I would prefer to only have one widget designated for information about the message board. I think the “Top Forum Discussions” widget is cleaner and more useful than the one that lists individual comments.
I do appreciate the feedback. Any additional feedback from others would be appreciated, too. I’m not a web designer by trade, either.
Yeah, I see what you’re saying. This offense was okay before Brady, great with him, and pretty good with Matt Cassel that one year. It’s hard to see many other guys doing as well with a mediocre supporting cast.
Good stuff. Sometimes those “homemade” workouts are better than the run-of-the-mill, prescribed workouts we see on football teams, at gyms, etc. We have a pretty steep hill near our football field, and the players hate when we run hills…which means it makes them work hard, so it’s good.
I don’t know what some of those are…and maybe I don’t want to.
The best rivalry in college football is Michigan vs. Ohio State, so I will go with OSU. Obviously, it would be great to beat both teams, but OSU has set the bar for play in the Big Ten. I don’t think Michigan State is a national power, and they’re still not recruiting like one. It’s more newsworthy if Michigan beats OSU, because that means Michigan has arrived back in the national discussion.
But if Michigan loses one game, I sure hope it’s not as big of a heartbreaker as last year’s MSU game…
Great video. Some of those old highlights (Woodson and Desmond housing punt returns against OSU, etc.), I never get tired of seeing them. Those highlights from last year were a lot of fun, too. I’m looking forward to the season opener.
I think part of the issue is that there are a couple other guys who are just very good. I think Michigan is a good fit for McCaffrey because of his skills/athleticism, but he’s not a guy who wows people with his size, arm strength, etc. He’s not perfect mechanically, either, and he doesn’t play great competition at Valor Christian. But I think the drop might be associated most with the fact that a couple guys are just deemed to flat-out be better.
Yeah, Dunn was supposed to be a backup. That’s why some people are looking at this sideways and thinking that maybe Meyer is just pushing a guy out the door for a minor violation to clear space.
Kekoa Crawford will wear #1.
Carlo Kemp is wearing #2.
Ahmir Mitchell is wearing #2.
Rashan Gary will wear #3.
Khaleke Hudson will wear #7.

Thanks for the post, Wolfman. I agree with a lot of what you say here. Taylor isn’t a guy who jumps off the screen with his explosiveness, speed, power, etc. But he does have that vision thing that has been missing from some of our backs lately. He seems to be like one of those short, stout guys that has had moderate success at Stanford in recent years – like Remound Wright or Stepfan Taylor.
I agree regarding people’s joy about his death. It seems like people’s political opinions often cause them to be less humane, as if political figures are lesser people. Regardless of their political opinions, they are intelligent, high achievers. If anything, the fact that such different types of people reach such heights highlights the idea that intelligent people can have varying opinions.
I identify myself as neither “liberal” nor “conservative”, but yes, it does make sense for laws to be enforced based on the way the Constitution was written, not how we want to interpret it now. Like you said, Amendments can be made if necessary, but otherwise, the Constitution has done a pretty good job of governing this body for over 200 years now, so there’s not a pressing need to “fix” it at this point.
Kareem Walker will wear #6.
Wearing that #6 at UM… ?〽️

Which score do you want to go with? The first one or the second?
We had a couple good guesses, and you had me worried for a few minutes. The final was 82-74 in favor of Michigan, so nobody won the prize this time. Keep an eye out for the next contest.
Go Blue!
Sorry you had to post it twice. I tried to change the settings so comments appear immediately, but it didn’t happen. I made another tweak, so hopefully it works for future comments.
That’s okay – there will be more and better contests in the near future.
Also, feel free to start topics other than football. I’ve posted a couple threads about movies and such.
Thanks for reading!
Wilson committed to Michigan on Saturday.
Edmonds committed to Michigan as a preferred walk-on.
Jokisch committed to Michigan as a preferred walk-on.
Muterspaw committed to Ohio State as a preferred walk-on.
We’ll be waiting until National Signing Day or longer. Rashan Gary, Pie Young, Dontavious Jackson, and probably Lavert Hill are waiting until NSD. A few couple come earlier, but we’ll probably get a couple on NSD, too. Plus, there are often guys who flip on NSD or who get a late offer. So…we’ll be waiting a few weeks before all is said and done.
Yeah, that’s kind of my thought, too. He’ll certainly get some work on his pass protection.
I’m not entirely sure why Shea Patterson and Jacob Eason are on the West and East teams, respectively, when Eason is from WA and Patterson played this season in FL. However, it does make sense to split up the top QB talent, and those are the top two QBs in the country, IMO. Also, I believe Patterson grew up in Texas before moving to Louisiana and then Florida.
Ohio State always reloads, but they’re losing six guys to the NFL. At some point, you would think that will affect them, although Urban Meyer is one of the best coaches in the NCAA. I think a couple of those guys are going to regret leaving early, and Cardale Jones seems like a guy who would be best served by transferring, rather than entering the draft.
…and I would take Rudock over Sudfeld. Rudock was playing great at the end of the year.
I’m not sure what kinds of “significant changes” need to be made. However, I do expect to see more of a traditional 4-man front next year, rather than the 3-4 type of defense that we saw this year. That’s what he ran a lot of at BC this past season, and I think that’s the best fit for our personnel.
It sounds like Michigan is trying to bring back Fisch for at least next year, but I wouldn’t expect him to be here much longer than that. I think he wants to get back to the NFL, and he’s never spent any more than 3 years at any job, IIRC.
I agree with regard to Brady Hoke. He recruited better than he gets credit for, because there are some talented guys that he just couldn’t develop. He also retained players, so now Michigan has some experience and depth for Harbaugh to work with. Although there will be some departures here in the off-season.
Desmond Fitzpatrick – WR – Michigan: February 1
Isaac Nauta – TE – Florida: January 9 at U.S. Army All-American Bowl
Just like with Derrick Green a few years back, I agree that Walker’s not the #1 back in the country. He’s not great at any one thing. However, I think he is good in all phases of the game (except perhaps pass blocking, which is often a struggle for young players). He has good vision, has good speed, has good agility, has good strength, has good leg drive, etc. I think if you look at all those categories, you’re probably giving him 4 out of 5 stars in each one.
The nice thing about him is that he does not have any of those glaring weaknesses that you see with Michigan’s other backs. Derrick Green doesn’t run through contact, De’Veon Smith is slow, Ross Douglas is small/lacking strength, Drake Johnson is average in many categories, etc. At times Drake Johnson, though, has looked like the best back, and I think that’s because he’s well rounded. So if you take Johnson, upgrade him in each of those categories, you’ve got Kareem Walker.
I don’t know that I have a great comparison when it comes to Michigan. Going a ways back, maybe someone like Ricky Powers.

To be honest, I’m not really hearing rumblings either way about what position he’ll get. Personally, I do not believe he’ll be the permanent linebackers coach. But Michigan wants to keep him, so I think he’ll see some additional pay as well as perhaps an increased amount of responsibility in recruiting and analysis.
