Here’s what I wrote after the UNLV game:

Rudock has been bad. No two ways about it. That’s not to say he won’t improve, or that there should be a QB controversy – but his play has been poor through the easiest 25% of the schedule. With a rating of 118.5, Rudock ranks 10th in the Big 10 in passer efficiency. . .

Well, Rudock DID improve, despite facing tougher teams. He ended the season as the second highest-rated QB in the Big Ten (141.5), trailing only Sudfeld.

    I’ll take it.

If you haven’t seen it already, here’s a fairly well-done documentary about Gallon, including interviews with his family and HS coach. Nice watch.

These OSU players obviously don’t know how to handle losing, which I suppose isn’t the worst thing you can say about someone.

Still, I don’t think it was a very smart career move on their part, whether or not they end up in NFL or the real world.

OSU’s probably better without Cardale Jones at this point, anyway.

Playing football takes away from time you can invest in education and tears up your body. For me personally, I’d take that free Michigan education and run.

Falcon is an exceptional athlete, so I understand that he’s highly motivated to keep playing football, but it’s not doing his knees or ankles any favors. If he wants to assume the risk of further injury to keep playing, fine. But Michigan just has to do right by the player – not give him everything he wants.

This would be a dream come true if it were me. The opportunity to get a world-class education for free, without the bodily damage, time demands, or distractions from academics. I can’t imagine too many D1 athletes agree with that line of thinking, though.

It’ll be interesting to see how the defensive staff adjusts. Seems like we’ll have to put more guys in the box, and I’d also be in favor of seeing Henry spend the vast majority of his time at NT.

Lewis is great in coverage, but there’s not much a defensive back can do against a perfect throw. Throughout the game my wife kept saying, “I thought you said number 26 was good. . .?”

I expect Peppers to quickly improve his coverage as the season progresses. No substitute for experience, no matter how talented. I bet he ends looking a lot more like an all-star by season’s end.

The video’s linked in my first post, so you can click to check it out.

Of course, kids change their minds all the time in recruiting. . .but in the video, he builds suspense between Michigan and Ohio State and then flies a plane over his hometown with a banner that says Go Blue. Just seemed too theatrical to turn around and say, “naw, just kidding; I meant the other team.”

After watching the way he committed, flipping to OSU doesn’t seem likely.

It seems like a smart move from a coaching standpoint, but also adds to the fun of following the team and it’s players. At least for me it does. Willie Henry to wideout!

The DL should still be fine/good, but I think Mone’s injury cost it the chance to be elite.

Henry focusing primarily on 3-tech would have been a luxury for sure. With Mone healthy, they would have combined for 636 pounds on the inside of the line, while presumably offering plenty of pass rush. Maybe next year.

Mone would have been able to eat up space inside, so I agree that Glasgow is more valuable now. He has solid technique and doesn’t budge much. But what about the other defensive tackles? Things might have just opened up quite a bit for Matt Godin. It doesn’t seem like Henry should have a problem platooning with Glasgow at nose tackle, allowing Godin to slide in at the 3-tech

I just thought it was cool having a player on the team named after Bo Schembechler. His dad was a defensive lineman in the eighties.

Yeah, my guess is that there are more players switching around in an effort to bolster competition and depth. Submarines can be mysterious.

It’s hard for me to see Clark fighting through Wilson, Peppers, Hill and possibly even Thomas for much playing time at safety. With teams spending so much time in four and five-receiver sets, he might have a fighting chance at CB. Watson and Stribling both seem to have quite a bit of potential, but haven’t put it all together yet. After them is. . .Richardson? Taylor-Douglas? Dawson? At least Clark has logged some significant PT.
