Recruiting Update: October 14, 2015

Ten-year veteran NFL safety, or high school senior Kareem Walker?

ADDED TO THE BOARD: 2016

Ann Arbor (MI) Skyline linebacker Daelin Hayes decommitted from USC. He’s a 247 Composite 4-star, the #9 outside linebacker, and #105 overall. He recently took a visit to Notre Dame, has set one up for Ohio State, and is also looking at Oklahoma, Ole Miss, and Texas. Michigan does not appear to be on the list, and I’m not sure they should be. Hayes – the cousin of former Michigan running back Justice Hayes – went to Orchard Lake (MI) St. Mary’s as a youngster, transferred to California for his junior year, and then returned to the state of Michigan for his senior season. In the meantime, he has suffered multiple season-ending injuries and played only a handful of total games. At 6’3″, 254 lbs., recruiting analysts rave about his athleticism when he’s healthy, but he might just be one of those guys who can never stay healthy. He also has some people trying to steer him away from staying within the state.

Torrance (CA) North linebacker Mique Juarez also decommitted from USC. He’s a 6’2″, 222 lb. prospect who has seen a number of Crystal Ball predictions go in favor of UCLA over the past couple months. He’s a 247 Composite 5-star, the #2 outside linebacker, and #17 overall. The U.S. Army All-American said before he decommitted from the Trojans that he wanted to take an official visit to Michigan, so the Wolverines may be able to get in the race. However, the Bruins are having a pretty solid season (4-1 so far), and Juarez seems like a guy who wants to stay pretty close to home.

Hit the jump for some 2017 and 2018 offers, some guys who went off the board, and some random bits.

Recruiting Update: October 1, 2015

Arlington Heights (IL) St. Viator tight end Cole Kmet

ADDED TO THE BOARD: 2016

Suwanee (GA) Collins Hill defensive end Tomon Fox, a North Carolina commit, was offered by Michigan. He’s a 6’3″, 230 lb. prospect who also has offers from Auburn, Miami, Notre Dame, and Penn State, among others. He’s a 247 Composite 3-star, the #30 weakside end, and #446 overall. Fox committed to UNC in June, but he is expected to give Michigan a look and potentially visit. The weakside end (a.k.a. Buck linebacker) position is somewhat shallow at Michigan, and with no proven players at the position, Michigan is looking to add someone in the 2016 class to go with Camden (NJ) Camden’s Ron Johnson, Jr.

Hit the jump for some new 2017 and 2018 offers, plus some random bits.

Visitors: Michigan vs. BYU

Paramus (NJ) Catholic defensive tackle Rashan Gary

2016

Christian Boyd – DT – Muskegon (MI) Mona Shores: Boyd is a 6’2″, 280 lb. prospect with no offers at this time. He also visited Michigan last weekend for the UNLV game. He is a teammate of 2016 wide receiver Hunter Broersma (Western Michigan), cornerback Darece Roberson (Western Michigan), and wide receiver Kobe Burse (Miami-OH).

Kingston Davis – RB – Prattville (AL) Prattville: Davis committed to Michigan in April (LINK). So far as a senior, he has 598 yards and 7 rushing touchdowns through four games (LINK).

Chris Evans – RB – Indianapolis (IN) Ben Davis: Evans committed to Michigan in June. You can see how his senior season is going here (LINK).

Rashan Gary – DT – Paramus (NJ) Catholic: Gary is a 6’4″, 287 lb. prospect with offers from almost everywhere. He’s a 247 Composite 5-star, the #1 defensive tackle, and #1 overall. The plurality of his Crystal Ball picks are for Michigan (47%), but Auburn and Georgia are also strong contenders. He is teammates with 2016 wide receiver Donald Stewart; 2017 defensive end Corey Bolds and linebacker Drew Singleton; and 2018 quarterback Allan Walters. There are a lot of connections to Michigan, since redshirt freshman safety Jabrill Peppers and offensive lineman Juwann Bushell-Beatty are both from his high school, along with recruiting coordinator Chris Partridge, who coached the Paladins last year. This is Gary’s official visit.

Hit the jump for several more 2016, 2017, and 2018 visitors.

Recruiting Update: September 23, 2015

Clearwater (FL) Clearwater running back Adarius Lemons

ADDED TO THE BOARD: 2017

Collierville (TN) St. George’s running back Chase Hayden was offered by Michigan. He’s a 5’11”, 180 lb. prospect with offers from Tennessee and Vanderbilt. He’s a 247 Composite 3-star, the #33 running back, and #436 overall. Hayden is the son of Aaron Hayden, who grew up in Detroit and played running back for the Tennessee Volunteers before an NFL career with the Chargers, Packers, and Eagles (784 rushing yards, 4 touchdowns in his career). The younger Hayden has the Volunteers on top, but he is still near the beginning of his recruiting process.

Clearwater (FL) Clearwater running back Adarius Lemons was offered by Michigan. He’s a 6’1″, 185 lb. prospect with offers from Florida, Indiana, Kentucky, and Louisville. He’s a 247 Composite 3-star, the #23 running back, and #289 overall. Lemons is a speedy back who’s shifty and does a nice job of fighting for yardage. Michigan is offering some talented running backs in 2017 and trying to get in on them early so they can supplement the current roster.
