TRANSFER

Deontay Anderson – S – Ole Miss: Anderson is a 6’1″, 221 lb. safety who missed the 2017 season with an injury. He made 32 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, and 1 interception in 2016. Michigan offered him coming out of high school, but he never visited campus. Anderson was a 4-star, the #2 safety, and #52 overall in the 2016 class. He would be a redshirt sophomore in 2018.

Van Jefferson – WR – Ole Miss: Jefferson is a 6’2″, 195 lb. wideout who spent the past three seasons at Ole Miss, including a redshirt year in 2015. He had 42 catches for 456 yards and 1 touchdown this past season. Michigan recruited him out of high school, and he’s the son of former NFL wide receiver Shawn Jefferson, who spent some time playing and coaching for the Detroit Lions. Van was a 4-star, the #11 wide receiver, and #106 overall in the 2015 recruiting class. He would be a redshirt junior in 2018.

Shea Patterson – QB – Ole Miss: I put together an entire post on the potential to get Patterson (LINK).

Hit the jump for more visitors.

2018

Michael Barrett – RB – Valdosta (GA) Lowndes: Barrett is a 5’11”, 215 lb. prospect with offers from LSU, Maryland, Michigan, Michigan State, NC State, South Carolina, and West Virginia, among others. He’s a 3-star, the #56 athlete, and #693 overall. While Barrett has been a quarterback in high school, he’s looked at as a running back prospect for the next level. This is his official visit.

Jalen Goss – OT – Valdosta (GA) Lowndes: Goss is a 6’7″, 265 lb. prospect with offers from Auburn, Florida, Miami, Michigan, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, and Oregon, among others. He’s a 3-star, the #67 offensive tackle, and #843 overall. He’s a teammate of Barrett (see above).

Jalen Mayfield – OT – Grand Rapids (MI) Catholic Central: Mayfield is committed to Michigan (LINK).

Jarrett Patterson – OT – Mission Viejo (CA) Mission Viejo: Patterson is a 6’5″, 285 lb. prospect with offers from Arizona, Nebraska, Michigan, and UCLA, among others; he has been committed to Arizona State since August. He’s a 3-star, the #42 offensive tackle, and #567 overall.

Ronnie Perkins – DE – St. Louis (MO) Lutheran North: Perkins is a 6’2″, 256 lb. prospect who committed to Oklahoma in late October. He’s a 4-star, the #6 weakside end, and #105 overall. He also has offers from Florida, Georgia, LSU, Miami, Notre Dame, and Oregon, among others. This is his official visit. UPDATE: Perkins canceled his official visit.

Kyle Philips – WR – San Marcos (CA) San Marcos: Philips is a 5’11”, 176 lb. prospect who committed to UCLA in April. He’s a 3-star, the #75 wide receiver, and #447 overall. Michigan offered him in late November, and he immediately scheduled an official visit. He would seem to fit well in what new UCLA head coach Chip Kelly wants in a receiver, but it’s not clear whether the two parties on the same page or not. This is his official visit. UPDATE: With Kelly in the fold, Philips is 100% solid to UCLA and won’t visit Michigan.

Luke Schoonmaker – TE – Hamden (CT) Hamden Hall: Schoonmaker is committed to Michigan (LINK). This is his official visit.

Christian Turner – RB – Buford (GA) Buford: Turner is committed to Michigan (LINK). This is his official visit.

Is Barret a RB, or a LB?

I do believe they are recruiting him as a RB.

Michigan is looking at him primarily as a running back.

Three more RBs in one (small) class? That’s worth some criticism…

Any news on the Ole Miss trio?

Numbers-wise, I don’t really criticize until the class ends. There’s always the chance of a departure, a decommitment, etc.

No news on the Ole Miss guys. I’m sure it will be reported as soon as anything is made public.

I’d take Barrett as a running back. He has a real nice combination of size speed, and shake.
