2016 BBQ at the Big House visitors

August 6, 2016

Antioch (CA) Antioch RB Najee Harris

The BBQ at the Big House, founded by Rich Rodriguez, has continued through Brady Hoke and now Jim Harbaugh. It has always been a big recruiting weekend with a lot of visitors, although Harbaugh has switched it up a little bit. Instead of having it near the end of July when players are still able to take visits freely, putting it in early August makes it a bit tougher for players to make lengthy travel plans, since a lot of states start practice at the beginning of August. This year’s BBQ at the Big House will supposedly be split up into two events, one on August 6 and one on August 8.

2017

Jordan Anthony – LB – Bradenton (FL) IMG Academy: Anthony is a 6’0″, 220 lb. prospect with offers from Auburn, Clemson, Georgia, LSU, Maryland, Michigan, Ohio State, Oklahoma, and Penn State, among others. He’s a 247 Composite 4-star, the #8 outside linebacker, and #113 overall. A Maryland native, he transferred to IMG prior to his junior year. UPDATE: Anthony is no longer planning to visit.

Henry Bainivalu – OT – Sammamish (WA) Skyline: Bainivalu is a 6’6″, 290 lb. prospect with offers from Michigan, Oregon, UCLA, USC, Washington, and Washington State, among others. He’s a 247 Composite 4-star, the #23 offensive tackle, and #182 overall.

Why is it split into 2 different days this year?

I have yet to confirm this, so I didn’t post it. But I think they may be splitting it up into a “senior” day and then an “underclassman” day. Seniors on August 6, underclassmen on August 8.

Recent confirmation on Holmes, Wade, and Parsons attending is big. Would love for Michigan to get just one of those.

Reportedly, one of best players at the Opening, 2017 3-star WR Oliver Martin will be visiting for the BBQ.

James Hudson seems to be trending towards Sparty in a big way lately.

Humor me for a bit….say Najee Harris commits during the BBQ. What kind of fallout do you expect from the other three RBs we have committed to the program? I totally understand the philosophy of getting the best player available, but i think the ones we have committed now are pretty legit…

I really don’t know. Kurt Taylor is probably the least talented of the bunch, but he also seems to be the most pro-Michigan. I think O’Maury Samuels seems like the guy who most wants to be The Man and is most interested in taking other visits. I don’t have any inside information that he’s planning to decommit, but he might be the one to watch if Harris were to flip to Michigan.

I like our current RB commits quite a bit, but I’d trade them all for Najee Harris.

I thought that I read somewhere that Alex Leatherwood was coming. Was that just wishful thinking?

I believe he said he wanted to come to the BBQ, but so far I haven’t seen any confirmation that he’s made plans to do so.
